BELKIN LINK

has anyone tried using this to switch between a JP1 cable and a printer?

I wouldn't count on it.
I'd get an old school mechanical switch that switches all the lines. That is what I used when I was using. a Parallell port printer (actually, it was 24 way switch, which switched one male DB 25 between two female DB25. It was intended to select one serial printer between two terminals or something, I modified it so that pin 1 was switched, and pin 25 solid.)

yeah, I have a mechanical. I was just curious about the belkin. I found it really cheap (less than I paid for the mechanical one). go to officemax.com to see if item no. 02219129 is in stock for you. At $3 a piece, I ordered four of them to experiment with.

When I searched for 02219129 at officemax.com, I came up with a 4-port USB switch, not a parallel switch.

Yes, but the manufacturer's part number for the $3 product corresponds to the device that costs $77 direct from belkin ($48 from Amazon):

Auto Switch.
Item # 02219129 , Style # F1U125-KIT

I ordered today and got an email a few hours later saying they shipped four of something to me. I'll let you know on Tuesday or Wednesday what arrives.
