OK I'm still new here...
I have an unopened 8810w and an older unmodified RCU810.
I'm looking to buy a JP1 cable and an adator for the RCU810.

Looking at the pictures I can't tell why a 6pin male header won't work with the RCU810 as a non-permanent adaptor to go with the JP1 plug.

Am I missing something?

DO I need a Pogo adaptor or a 6pin header to connect to the RCU810?

Thanks in advance Smile

When you solder the 6-pin into a remote, the solder not only holds the 6-pin in place, it also guarantees contact between the pins and the pads on the circuit board. If you just place the 6-pin into the end of your JP1 cable and hold it in place, you can get a good connection, but it's hit & miss. If that's OK with you, go for it. You'll need to be patient as you'll need to try holding it at several different angles until you find one that works.

The pins on a pogo-pin adapter are flexible, that is they can move up and down, and they are wider than the holes, which means that it's alot easier to get a connection between all 6 pins.

Thanks for the info.
NOT a good at soldering Sad
I even tried the soldering paste that Radio Shack sells (just needs a flame to melt the flux/solder).
The Pogo sounds better but are a bit pricy...
Maybe I'll check the "how to modify" remote posts before I order... Wink

I thought the pogo was only about $10, did they put the price up?

Yes $10 is realitively cheap but for a tiny piece of plastic and 12 pins it seems like a lot.
*shrug*
JP1 cables are only 14-20.

Do you have any idea just how much the pogo-pins themselves actually cost? Check out some of the electronic sites to see what the best price you can find for them is. I bet you couldn't make one for less than they cost to buy ready made.
