Does anyone know if the RCA RCU810-A is JP1 compatible? It's got the holes for the pins but I wasn't sure if it needed anything else to make it JP1.

I was guessing you made a typo and meant the RCA RCU810, but you repeated the model number exactly in the post, so maybe not.
I've never heard of the RC810-A so I have no idea if it's a UEI remote or not. If there are holes for a 6-pin there's a good chance that it can be made JP1-able. You would need to take the remote apart to solder in the pins, so that would be when you would check to see if it already has an EEPROM on board, if it doesn't you would have to add one.
Could you post a picture of the remote? _________________ Rob

Yes, it's JP1 capable, but not JP1.x.
You can read / write to it (just did it yesterday for the first time), but you need the DYI solution I'm assuming. In my case, I used an Arduino Leonardo with the sketch that comes with RMI, and I was able to read/write to it. Note of caution, download what's in it, and save it to a file, because I almost lost mine, if I didn't have that file. More details on this thread: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=147773#147773
Summary: You can use the Arduino Sketch on it, but be mindful that the SDA/SCL lines on the sketch go to 2/3 respectively on the Arduino Leonardo. I used this URL for reference https://www.arduino.cc/reference/en/language/functions/communication/wire/. |
