IRScope v3.05 is now available. This is the first update to IRScope since the release of v2.01a 10 years ago. It is needed to support the AIRWidget, a replacement for the IR Widget capture device that is used with IRScope. The only source of ready-made IR Widgets is Tommy Tyler's IR Widget Store which Tommy will be closing at the end of December 2022.
The AIRWidget is not available ready-made, but in contrast to the IR Widget it is easy to construct on a solderless breadboard with cheap and readily available components. It is based on an Arduino Nano clone and at its simplest it requires nothing more than this and a QSE159 photo sensor to receive the IR signals. A few other components provide an LED to confirm the signal is being received and enhance reliability but they are not essential. The program that runs the AIRWidget is uploaded to the Arduino using the freely available Arduino IDE, so no specialized chip programmer is required. For details, see the announcement of AIRWidget v1.00 in the Miscellaneous > Hardware area of this File Section.
IRScope v3.05 adds a further item, Arduino Widget, to the Hardware and Mode drop-down box. This is the mode to select when using the AIRWidget. It is required due to certain inevitable differences in operation between the AIRWidget and the original IR Widget design. Apart from this, there is no operational difference between versions 3.05 and 2.01a. The source code of IRScope v3.05 is available on SourceForge here.

The documentation included with the AIRWidget v1.00 package has now been revised to take account of changes required if using Windows 11. It also suggests alternatives for the QSE159 photosensor if that is no longer available. The changes only concern the construction of the AIRWidget, the use of a constructed AIRWidget with IRScope v3.05 in Windows 11 is not affected. _________________ Graham |
