Need more help on adding phantom keys (to 8910).

Procedures/ rules to edit RDF to add phantom keys.

How does IR or KM recognize changed RDF. Does it load every time opened?

Is editing RDF the only or best way to do this.

Someone must have written this up, I just can't find it.

You need to add phantoms to the appropriate RDF. Once that is done, IR and RM will be able to use them, but not KM (since it doesn't use the RDF's).

You can still use KM to create key moves on the new phantoms. I recently described the process here.

Actually, it needs to be added to the [Buttons] section.

If you are using the current RDF you already have Phantom 1 thru 3 so I am guessing you want more than that. You can basically add as many phantoms as you want up to hex value $7F but you could start running into conflicts. It is safe to go to $40. Plus, if you go over $68 and decide to go with the extender you will start to conflict with the extender buttons which means you will either loose the buttons you added or blow up the extender.

Remember, that any button you are not using can be used as a "Phantom" and assign codes to them to be used anywhere like in macros. The best way to get extra buttons is to use the shifted version of any button. Also, the buttons don't have to be named Phantom, you can call them anything you want. Some RDF's actually have buttons named Phantom# and buttons named DisceteON/OFF. Some people actually change the names of the regular buttons to what they like but remember only RM and IR use the RDF so you won't see the new names in KM unless you put them in KM yourself.

The big caveat here is that whatever changes you make to the RDF are your changes and you would have to add them to new versions of RDF's or loose them.
