|

I have a 2056-CXX (model # in the battery compartment is 2056BC1-CXX) that came with my Cable system. For the TV device button I have PunchThrough set to none for Volume, Transport, and Channel. I have none set for all devices for Transport PunchThrough. When in TV device, generally all the buttons on the bottom half of the remote works for the TV (TV device button lights when pressed). All the buttons on the top half of the remote send command for the STB and the STB device lights up. I recently purchased a 2056-ISX (model # in the battery compartment is 2056ABC0-ISX). "Out of the box" the ISX does not have the mysterious PunchThrough issue that the CXX does but when I download from the the CXX and upload that to the ISX, the PunchThrough issue occurs. The other Device modes are respecting the settings I have in RMIR. Does anyone have thoughts on removing the hidden Transport PunchThrough on the TV device mode so that I can have full control of the TV with the URC? Thank you! |

Upload a copy of each RMIR file, one with the punch thru and one without, to the Diagnosis Area and then post a link to it here. _________________ Rob

I can't tell what's causing this from the data shown, but I do see some "unknown" segments in there. Maybe one of the segments experts can take a deeper look.
If you say that the ISX remote does not have the punch thru issue, what happens if you load the ISX file into the CXX remote, does the CXX no longer have the punch thru issue? If so, I would suggest that you use the ISX file as a starting point and then re-configure it to match the CXX file. _________________ Rob

Uploading the ISX to the CXX worked. I was hesitant to do that because when I initially programmed the CXX, it would crash/brick and I would have to start over with the cable company's instructions to reset. I discovered that if I only made a few changes, uploaded those changes, immediately downloaded those changes, and the made a few changes to the most recently download, I could avoid crashing it. Maybe there's something off in the cable company's programming that's causing all of these problems. |

I did notice that there are a TON of device upgrades in both remotes, most of which which I'm guessing that you didn't put there. You could try deleting some of them. Again, maybe 1 or 2 at a time to avoid crashing it.
Another other trick is to always save a new version of your RMIR file after making changes, so you can always revert to a previous version if it crashes. _________________ Rob

I suspect those upgrades are for the various cable boxes that use this remote.
I did do what you recommended when I was setting up the CXX but if I did something it didn't like, it would not even accept the most recent "save". I ended up adding one upgrade at a time and then one macro or key move at a time and finally got it set up. It was very annoying. |

I can totally imagine. Hopefully somebody with greater expertise on this will have some clue what might have been going on. _________________ Rob
