Ah, I see now that you've edited your last message with pictures at the USB end.
Here's the correct connections: Code: | JP2 ---> FTDI Signal Name
Pin
1 --------------- Not connected
2 --------------- RTS
3 --------------- Ground
4 --------------- TXD
5 --------------- Not Connected
6 --------------- RXD | If I interpret your photos correctly, TXD (at the FTDI chip) is connected to the Black wire, and that should be connected to pin 4. The green wire is connected to RXD and it should be connected to pin 6.
It looks like the black and green wires need to be swapped at the 6 pin connector. |

Hey guys,
Awesome, thanks for the replies, you're a generous community. Yeah, 3FG: I"ll pop those babies back into the right order, thanks for having a peek there...quite possible it was just aligned wrong...I'll give'er a whirl and if that doesn't prove useful then I'll sniff out (per your step-by-steps) and see what the issue may be.
=]
Standby, i have some other tinkering around to do today too like side-load some kodi build into my TV, not sure if it'll work but I'll find my way in and see what's doing...
Anyway, be back in a bit with some results.

*edit:
K, no dice so far with any of the suggestions. I swapped the green for black at the 6-pin, visually - now I'm not getting the blink-backs from the remote's LED and still the same message of no remotes. I sniffed out with your steps - seems to be no communication with the darn thing. Here's my screenshot...I'm debating swtiching BACK the green/black and sniffing too...just out of curiousity. Here's the info from the sniff.
*edit edit:
and here's what the result was when I swapped the green/blk back:

SOLVED!
Thank you for your insight guys, turns out the wiring WAS wrong, but it wasn't the green / black I had to change but all the rest, i think the only one i did not move what GND / White. LoL...DiyGadget is backwards...ah, well maybe not, maybe it's supposed to be pinned-out that way but not for my application and if you pin-out chart is supposed to be the norm - well it wasn't from them this one time. I won't slag them tho, not a big deal. I figure if I'm not able to trouble-shoot and find my way thru forums and ask help...it would have been too hard an upward battle for the rest of the things I"m looking to do...
You guys pointed me in the right direction and now I got going.
RMIR was able to read what's on the remote so that's good.
I can post more sniff dumps if you like for wrapping-up the issue purposes.
Now I'll need to probably start a new thread once i have questions in regards to the couple of tweaks i want to do...
Let me know if yous want any more info from me...I'll be happy to help someone else in the future who might have this issue... |

Well done. Could you post the final pinout that you ended up with?
And then, yeah, start a new thread for regular JP1 questions, etc. _________________ Rob

Hi Rob, yeah sure. So my final pin-out is exactly what you had posted earlier:
JP2 ---> FTDI Signal Name
Pin
1 --------------- Not connected
2 --------------- RTS
3 --------------- Ground
4 --------------- TXD
5 --------------- Not Connected
6 --------------- RXD
The issue was mine came to me all wrong. If you look at the pics (again) that I posted, you'll see:
my pin 1 was ok = not used
my pin 2 (black wire) was actually going to TXD as opposed to RTS.
my pin 3 (white wire) was ok going to GND
my pin 4 (green wire) was actually going to RXD as opposed to TXD
my pin 5 was ok = not used
my pin 6 (red wire) was actually going to RTS as opposed to RXD
It was actually a 3-way pin switch.
Now maybe you's can help this lame-old newbie in a new post I'll post in the beginner's section. Stay tuned, I'll probably get that up in a day or two. I've been a tad busy as of late but I didn't want yous to think I used you and ran, LoL...I've come back to praise your glory. Thanks and we'll just keep an eye out for this simple issue popping up with other new users with new cables from DiyGadget or TAIO ...
=]
Thanks all
Sincerely,
Larry <---yeah, you get my real name =]
