|

Another satisfied customer for RMIR v2.02a for 7960 (Windows7) - many thanks!
In UK, the URC 7960 seems very popular and the RMIR tool worked perfectly for it. After playing with URC 6440, which has individual device selection buttons but only 4 devices and no shifted keys, I was curious to see how awkward the 'no macros' in Smart modes and devices in a loop would be in comparison, but could find few examples in the file section so ordered one.
When 7960 arrived it made things so much easier that JP1 is available, but I found it is indeed a nuisance that the device modes are in a continuous loop without each having on its own button, while macros and shifted functions do not work in the 'Smart Modes'. However it is a useful feature that the first press of one of the two device-select direction buttons does not change the current device and, provided that it is only pressed once while the device indicator remains lighted, the device indicator does not move around the loop.
In this example there is no need for the bother of changing the device mode, with can be left in 'TV':-
Most of the macros are useful for the Tv device, but it also carries some macros or key moves relating to other devices, and for functions which might have been placed on their shifted keys. As a result, and without changing devices, those functions can be used after pressing a device-select button once, to go to the TV Device Mode.
Then, obviously, another press of the previous Smart button returns to the same smart mode, but smart modes can also be switched without further ado. Otherwise, to watch Tv, a button allocated to 'Input Tv' can be pressed ('16.9' being convenient), so there is no need for that activity to occupy its own smart mode.

Quote: | If things are wired up for the Tv to be the hub to get around 'no macros in activity mode':
Using three Combi buttons for three main activities, but none for watching Tv.
Setting the related input on each those activity buttons.
On a convenient button, say '16.9', setting up the macro - 'dev.TV:InputTv', just for watching the Tv.
So as not to interfere with Tv's main functions, setting up remaining macros for any device on the number buttons 0-9, of the Device 'TV'
Avoiding using the 'audio' or 'video' buttons except, In any mode:-
To switch to using just the Tv, pressing the button 'audio' or 'video' once, then button '16.9'
which will result in TV Device mode, where any of the other macros can be issued.
- start up, or going to watching the Tv on its own, pressing button '16.9'
or,
- go back to one of the three Combi-modes: pressing the relevant activity button. |

Using the same principles, the later OFA URC 6440 (which looks the same as OARUSB04G for US) is arguably nicer to handle and copes with the same five devices because controls for SC-BTT370 are the same as those for DMR-EX85. Although there are fewer buttons there is still room for additions and the buttons are easier to find. Unfortunately there is no JP1 for 6440, which 3FG is investigating, so this is a function map for macros and learns/keymoves on number buttons which seems to serve ok. http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=12346 |
