File - Nakamichi Receiver 2 V2.0
Description: JP1 Upgrade for the Nakamichi Receiver 2
by Jeffrey D. Blankenship (aka SCCA Racer X on jp1 forums)

V1.0 15 April 2005
V2.0 17 April 2005
Fixed wrong code for Memory
Added Preset function to access Presets 6-10 (use Preset followed by Preset 1..5)
Fixed label of Tuner Preset function - these are not band-specific

The complete upgrade consists of 4 files. The filenames are:
Nakamichi Receiver 2 (2000 92 0) Pwr, Vol, Spk, Tun V2.0.rmdu
Nakamichi Receiver 2 (2001 92 161) Tape Transport V1.0.rmdu
Nakamichi Receiver 2 (2003 103 0) CD Transport V1.0.rmdu
Nakamichi Receiver 2 (2002) 2000+2001 V2.0.rmdu
All these files are included in Nakamichi Receiver 2 V2.0.zip.

Important - for this to work, in IR go to the Devices Edit window, after clicking Paste, select Device Type = RVCR. Also in IR, go to Key Moves and set Device Type to RCVR.

This upgrade includes some commands which are not found on the original remote. These are:
Tuner AM/FM Toggle
Tuner Memory
Tuner Preset
Tuner Preset 1
Tuner Preset 2
Tuner Preset 3
Tuner Preset 4
Tuner Preset 5
Tape Monitor Toggle (Tape/Source)
Tape Counter Search (Fast wind to zero, then resume play/stop)
Tape Counter Reset

This upgrade allows you to access the tuner presets directly, something which is impossible with the OEM remote. To get presets 6-10, press Preset followed by Preset 1-5.

This upgrade allows you to program all the tuner presets using the remote control, something which is impossible with the OEM remote.
Instructions for using the Memory function:
1. Tune the station.
2. Press Memory.
3. Select the desired preset.

The main reason this upgrade requires multiple files is the remote does not use the same Protocol Parameters for all the buttons, so you need one file per unique set of Protocol Parameters. I have embedded information in the filename using the format (Setup-Code Device Sub-Device) so you can immediately know what is different in each file. A second reason is this remote has two sets of transport controls, Tape and CD. These would have to be mapped to two seperate devices on a JP1 remote.

This upgrade was started from scratch by learning from the OEM remote. I learned to a Universal Electronics URC-9811B00 HTPRO Plus, which is essentially a URC-9910 or 8910. I have laid out the buttons while keeping the ergonomics of this specific remote in mind. If you have a URC-9910, this is your lucky day.

Enjoy,
Jeffrey D. Blankenship
