JP1 Remotes

I just bought an Onkyo TX-SR605 A/V receiver (incredible receiver BTW) and would like to program the power button on my 6131 remote to cycle the power on and off. The original remote only has a single power on/off button but all the Onkyo upgrade files for the older receivers seem to only offer discrete on and off codes (after reading MANY other threads about Onkyo receivers, seems older Onkyo receivers always had separate POWER and STANDBY buttons)

Discrete ON is Protocol NEC1 Device 210 Sub-device 109 EFC 180 OBC 004
Discrete OFF is Protocol NEC1 Device 210 Sub-device 108 EFC 170 OBC 071

Since my 6131 is not a learning remote, is there any other way to figure out the cycling power button code that is on the original remote?

2 ways spring to mind if you can't find it in the upgrades here, or borrow a JP1 learner for a few minutes from a friend (the really easiest way)

[a] Check the Remote Central file section for ccf files.

look for gaps in the OBC values in the existing upgrades, and try those.

After reading another thread, a user found a power cycle to be OBC 203 but I had tried entering that but RM set it to be under NEC1-210:109 and it didn't work (though the light on the front of the receiver flashes). I saw that other buttons used 210:108 and when I switched it, it now cycles the power properly

So the power cycle setting is Protocol NEC1 Device 210 Sub-device 108 EFC 051 OBC 203 HEX 01 2C

After some frustration and figuring out that I had to select the second "210" in the Device box in Remote Master (I'm just getting started with JP1), I found that 2C AC was the hex code for power toggle that worked for me. The other values were the same (EFC 051, OBC 203, Protocol NEC1). I could not enter "01 2C" in the box for Hex without it changing the other values and giving me a code that didn't work.

Thanks for telling us about your success, but the hex code you mention is meaningless to anyone else without a context (i.e., what JP1 remote you used). In any event, to clear up any confusion for those who might read this thread in the future, this post would seem to confirm that this is the correct power toggle function:

Sorry, I didn't realize the hex code would be different for each remote (mine is a URC-8810). No wonder I couldn't get that hex value to come up when entering the other values.
