JP1 Remotes

Trying to setup one of my HR20s for the 3rd codeset (matches the D10). Since the D10 is not a DVR, its missing some of the keys. If I try to carry over the EFCs from the HR20 RDMU file, they dont work (they correspond with something, but not the same buttons as listed in the HR20 RDMU).

Im guessing that the 3rd codeset also has different EFCs, at least for some keys....the common keys (numerics) seem to work fine. Since there is no specific HR20 3rd codeset file, I dont know what EFCs I should assign for the missing functions.

Is there some formula to determine the EFC for the 3rd codeset on an HR20? I dont have a learning remote (all of my universals are extended) so its not the easiest solution to just learn from the original HR20 remote.

If only the extender stops one of your remotes from learning, you can get your answer a lot faster by learning than by asking here.

1) I assume you have a PC file backing up the config in your extended remote.

2) Deactivate the extender (see extender instructions, but normally just press a key while a battery is removed, the replace the batter).

3) Do the remote's factory reset process

4) Do the learning

5) Download the learned signals to PC

6) Edit your saved config (1) based on those results.

7) Upload the saved config to the remote

8) Activate the extender.

It sounds like a lot of steps, but it really isn't significantly more than you'd do anyway in learning signals, decoding them and editing your config based on the results.

Thanks for the advice, I was a little tired before I realized it probably wasnt that much work to just reset to factory and learn

Oddly enough, I was able to find an HR20 KM file, and following the notes for KM (setting raw data to 23) worked that way. For some reason following the notes for RM wasnt working correctly. I took the normal address RM file and changed the raw data, parm, device code, etc. to what it should have been, but the functions still didnt work correctly. Same procedure for the KM file did work, go figure.

Either way, thanks again.......I can now feel sane again after not having any idea why my other HR20 was "possessed". I guess the RF reception of the HTPro base was just that good
