Problem with homemade JP1.x interface

I built an JP1.x interface based on https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3585. I moved some of the components around to to fit on 15x15 board. I used 2N2222 transistors. (RS 276-1617 NPN Transistors)
Tested based on " EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TESTING A JP1.x INTERFACE"

JP1xTEST.bat fails, IR.exe fails, and the URC-6820B00 remote flashes twice during the tests. 6C, 6D, and the 6E voltage test was Ok.

However, the CommSniffer shows the following with Pin 4/6 loop back test:

Code: Select all

<Send>Test 1 [Nothing] [Text]
<Break>
<EvReceive>
The DB9 2/3 loop back is Ok.

Are your transistors the correct type and the correct way round?

Also, I know that DB9 cables can differ in colours but worth a re-check. Mine (and all the others I have come into contact with lately) shows:

1 Black
2 Brown
3 Red
4 Orange
5 Yellow

Thanks a million!!, I did install the transistors backwards. :oops: I guess that the fact I took electronics in High School 30 years ago is showing.

Works great now.

Don't you just love the many "standards" for transistors? For anyone interested, this page does a good job of explaining the basics.
