I had lots of problems with my USB cable to work. I was getting SDA Being held low make sure there are batteries in the remote.
Changing the battery configuration didn't work.
Changing the orientation of the plug didn't work.
Popping in and out of IR didn't work.
But rebooting my computer did fix it.
I was wondering what the proper procedure is for fixing this.

I just unplug the USB cable and plug it back in whenever this happens to me.

Well when I do that it gives me another error.l
Unable to open device, Please check connection.
It seems that after each upload to the remote I need to reboot my computer. This is getting very old, very fast. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what.
There is no eject hardware, but this is behaving like I've done something improper.

the driver appears to be pretty fragile. If you're using a laptop make sure that it NEVER goes to sleep. If you unplug it and dont' get the windows "dong" for unplugging a USB device, you'll need to reboot.
When I've seen SDA being held low, it usually meant that I had the JP1 connetctor in backwards.

Well, I solved my problem. I had an obsolete version of the driver. How do I get this stuff. I know I'm navigationally challenged, but sheesh. Everytime I've had problems with the software, I've downloaded something weird, from wher I don't know.
So now I've got my remote attached with the JP1-USB cable and I can connect it multiple times without needing to reboot!
I'm busy packing for vacation, computer, remote, USB cable, and assembly language manual. This is a real sickness!!!! I can't believe how addictive this is!!!

I think most of the members of the "remotes anonymous" club have taken a learning remote and cable on vacation too, just so we can capture the signals from the TV remote in the hotel! Next, of course, you have to look for secret functions, which is especially fun with "hotel" TVs where the "guest" remote is missing more functions than it covers.
