So did I HAVE to set up another divice?

I could not get around the problem of the Audio/0135 looks like this in Divices4.exe:

But when I learned the "DVD" input key and looked it up in IR.EXE I got this:

Dev1 : 210
SubDev: 108
OBC : 140
Hex Cmd: CE
EFC : 060

So based on the Sub-Device being off I could not make one complete upgrade.

Any suggestions or is this how it is?

Most of those Onkyo devices use a combination of subdevices 108 and 109 as well as a combination of NEC1 and NEC2.

I don't remember what the NEC-28 used by Audio/0135 is. But based on the fact that it mostly works for these devices, I assume it is the version that does NEC1 for most keys and NEC2 for a few others.

There are a variety of different ways to combine subdevices 108 and 109. The simplest is with KeyMoves from another setup code. A combo method is probablty better in this case was already covered in that thread you linked.

where is the devices and devices4 sheets that i read about , i cant seems to find them anywhere.

No, I believe that most, if not all, of the stuff in device4.xls should apply to your remote as well.

That's pretty much it. The NEC ($005a) executor is explained here. A parm of hex 28 in binary is 00101000, so bits 3 and 5 are set.

When B5 is set, it means the signal uses two device codes (eg, 210.109).
When B0 is clear, it means the signal is NEC1 (as opposed to NEC2).
When B3 is set, it means that NEC2 will be used for repeatable buttons (ie, VOL+/-, CH+/-, REWIND and F.FWD).

Ok I have tried the following and have had no luck(nothing works ):

NEC1 Combo
NEC2 Combo
NEC1 2DEV Combo
And the Onkyo HT-R500 upgrade

But the 0135 setup code works (minus the DVD input). The 'Fixed Data' is not the same as in the NEC1 nor NEC2 protocols.
Is this the problem?

Probably. Try using NEC1 with your Device and Sub-Device, and enter '28' as the Parm value.
