I have urc8811 and my JP1 cable and the factory remote from my happauge pvr 250. I learned the signals to my 8811, no problem, than I went to key-master and started to build the upgrade. this is where my trouble started. my learned codes protocol said RC-5. after selecting the remote type(8811) device type (pvr) setup code (2005) button codes(obc)
protocol (RC-5) device 1 (30). After going to the function tab and loading the obc codes i retrieved from ir learned codes list, I than move to the buttons tab . In this tab I find column f does not have the functions I just set up in the functions tab, their for I am not able to assign the buttons to functions. what am I doing wrong. please let me know. If you need to see the ir file, please let me know how and where to post it......thanks pg

When you entered the values in the OBC column (B) on the Functions sheet, did KM calculate and display the corresponding EFC and Hex? When you go over to the Buttons sheet and select a cell in the Function column (C) do you get the drop-down list and is there anything in it?
Sometimes Excel gets fussy. You can try saving the upgrade and then quit Excel and re-run it. If it still doesn't work, try rebooting the PC.

Hi,
Yes when I enter the obc codes, km adds the efc and the hex code.
I entered all the number buttons obc's on the functions tab, when I switch to the button tab the only functions in the F column I can choose from are the number 0 and 1 functions, also the b column on the functions tab is bright yellow,am I suppose to enter a value in this box as well? I am stuck at this step. please help if you can.........thanks PG

Are you saying that all the functions in column F are greyed out except 0 and 1, or that the only function cells you can select in column C are 0 and 1? If the F column is greyed out, it just means those functions have already been assigned but they can still be selected in C or D.
If the in-cell drop-downs aren't working in either column C or D on the Buttons sheet, it may be a corrupt copy of KM or something. You might try downloading it again...

Only if using more than 1 Device code on the Setup sheet, which you're not so the byte2 value can be left blank.

PG, unless we are not understanding you correctly, it certainly sounds like you are experiencing some unusual behavior that we are both unable to visualise and unable to re-create. So, could you take some screen shots of the symptoms that youa re trying to describe and post the pictures for us to see.

If you look in the Functions sheet, you'll notice that something is going wrong in the EFC calculation for the "Num 3" function, that's why you're not seeing any functions past that point in the Buttons list. That's the missing piece of info that you weren't giving us.
Also, the EFC codes that are being generated are all wrong, so all I can assume is that you have a corrupted copy of KM. I just tried replicating everything you did, and I'm also using 8.35, and I don't get the error that you're getting.
So, my recommendation is to download a fresh copy of KM and try it again.

Excel's probably ok. I'd start with just a fresh copy of km.

My guess is it's a bad copy of KM as well.
Also, while I applaud your efforts to create your own upgrade, did you see that there's 2 Hauppauge PVR files in the
PVR section that might work for you?

HI,
Thanks for the info about the file already built. I still can't get this to work right. I tried a new copy of rm and still had the same trouble as my screen shots show with the error in it. than I tried to reload excel and that did not help. after many hrs of trying to figure out what my problem is, I reformatted my hard drive and reloaded wdws xp pro. the first thing I loaded after xp was excel. than I got a new copy of km,ir,rdf's. after loading up km and then using the load button in km to load the file that robman had in the pvr file area. after loading the file, I switch to the function screen, I see the same error in the 3rd number area, row 4. if I clear the row 4 of the number 002 than the file goes back to normal. Help I am at a loss at this point................Thanks much...... Pete

I don't use KM but I have some PVR250's. I assume this is the original black remote? The fixed data I have on all of my RM upgrades (RC-5 dev1= 30) is "01 41 01" not "01 01 01" . Don't know how this would occur but might be important.

What is the file that you're loading into KM? It sounds like this is where the data corruption is. Is this a file that you downloaded or one you created yourself? If you downloaded it, please post a link to it. If you created it, please load it to the Diagnosis Area and post a link.

Robman,
The file I am using is the one mark posted above. but here is a link to it anyway. I get the same results when I try loading the learned codes from the original silver remote. as long as I leave the obc (002) for button function 2 out the cell, the file loads in km correctly after that!!!!!!
Thanks .............Pete

I did scan the previous posts first but I didn't see a link to any files.
Anyway, I just downloaded that PVR file and it opens just fine in KM, so I am at a total loss as to what's causing your problems. Have you tried re-downloading the file to make sure that it didn't get corrupted .
Is it that cell in particular that's the problem or it is the OBC 2 code? In other words, if you enter OBC 2 on a different line, does the problem re-appear?
Maybe you should save your copy of KM, with the bad data still in it, under a new name, then zip it and load that into the Diagnosis Area for one of us to look at. (and don't forget to post a link to the file).
