I am new to JP1 but so far been successful in using JP1 on my Atlas 5 in 1 remote. I do have another remote a Kameleon 8 in 1 but I havn't been successful in connecting to it. One odd thing about the Kameleon remote is it is neither male nor it is female it has a flat connector. Can anyone here help me with my problem?

Thank you,

Jun

I am assuming by your description that it is a 9960 Kameleon based on the no sex of the pad.

If so, and actually for all Kameleons you need a pogo pin adapter to connect to your regular cable that will put equal pressure on the pads.

In the case of the 9960 you can actually solder a male header onto the pads and use a regular cable with it.

If yours is the Kameleon 8, model URC9960 then it is JP1-compatible but it has - as you have found out - pads instead of pins as its connector. To interface with this using a standard JP1 cable you additionally need an adapter. The usual one is called a "pogo-pin adapter" which utilises six little telescopic pins and is available from Hovis Direct. I did my own home-made version using little springs from watch-strap bars - see here for text and a picture. Either way you need some way of holding the six connectors in contact with all six of the pads whist data is being transferred.

I assume you are describing the 9960 which is compatible. There are newer Kameleons which have a similar-looking connector labelled JP1.2 which are not compatible.
