When I run the remotemaster.jar file the window shows up but the contents of it aren't displayed.

Any easy way to fix this.

I've installed the most recent RM and the Java Runtime Enviroment.

Don't know what else to do.

Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "the contents of it aren't displayed"

Do you mean a blank window appears with just a title bar?
Do you mean RM appears in the Task Bar, but it isn't visible and you can't switch to it?

Several times I've had the RemoteMaster window pop up with no contents (The remoteMaster title bar for the window is displayed and the rest of the window is blank) and then take up to a minute (on a very fast computer) before any contents get filled in.

I haven't kept good track of when this happens: after getting a new version? after rebuilding a test version from new .java files? when running a different RM version than the last one I ran (I keep different versions in different directories)? Anyway, something like that causes a real slow startup. Then the next run starts fairly fast.

I'm surprised Greg didn't suggest (as he normally does for RM startup problems): check for an rmaster.err file, which should get created by the attempt to start RM. The end of that file (upload whole file to diagnosis folder or copy the last page or so of it to a post here) should tell Greg what went wrong (assuming it really hung without contents rather than just being slow).

I have the window with the title bar and nothing in it. I can resize the window. Move it and close.

So I tried to change the location of my RDF files. I had a sub folder within the installation folder of RM. And I had read somewhere that it is not recommended to have the RDF files in the same directory so I moved them location.

But now when I go to startup RM I get a window titled error with nothing in it. I'm assuming it's telling me that the RDF can't be found.

So I click in the whereabouts the ok button would be on a normal error dialog box and I get a new window titled (Choose the directory containing the RDF's) and this one is still blank. Can resize it and close it. But I can't guess where the Browse button is in this window is.

I Can't even see my Java Control Panel. I think this problem is bigger than RM.

I'll be doing some diggin. Thanks for the help though.

I'll keep you posted.

Finally found the problem.

I had my ATI AA setting at 4x. Returning the settings back to its default fixed my problem.

Thanks GOOGLE, you saved me again.
