I have the One4All URC-9910. I added a new device (code 0631) to my DVD device button. I have 3 devices (including this new device) on the DVD device button using the multiplexor special protocol.
HERE is a link to my text file from IR.
Shift + 1 activates device 1632 assigned to the DVD device. With only 1 shifted key, no conflicts with the other devices.
Shift + 2 activates device 1060 assigned to the db-09 device. No shifted key, no conflicts with the other devices.
Shift + 3 activates device 0631 assigned to the db-08 device. With a few shifted keys, no conflicts with the other devices.
But when I hit Shift + 3 to work device code 0631 none of my shifted buttons work. Can you help?

The multiplexor special protocol multiplexes setup codes, not device keys.
So you needed all the KeyMoves installed for DVD device mode.
The reason IR asked you for a device key when you installed 0631, is that it needed to know where to put the KeyMoves that are part of the 0631 upgrade. It doesn't actually need 0631 to remain programmed to a device button.
db-08 and TV share the same set of KeyMoves, so when you installed 0631 to db-08 you were installing its KeyMoves in TV mode. But you wanted them in DVD mode.
At this point, you need to change the Device Button field of KeyMoves 93 through 107 in your file from TV to DVD.

Ah I see that now. Thanks alot johnsfine, I really apreciate it. Before I added the new device file to IR I manually changed db-08 to DVD type and input the setup code number then went to the device tab and added the device upgrade file. Oddly for some reason IR set keymoves 93 thru 107 in the first column to TV. I just didn't notice that. I've corrected the error. Now gotta wait until tomorrow before I can connect the recorder to test it.

Why?

So IR deduced (incorrectly) you would use that setup code in db-08 device mode, so it installed the KeyMoves in db-08 mode.

I explained that in my previous post. In more detail:
There are only eight device modes for KeyMoves in a JP1 remote. In a remote that has more than eight device modes for setup codes, the device modes are paired and share their KeyMoves. TV and db-08 share all their KeyMoves.

No perticular reason. I've just always did that.

Right, but that was correct because that was my intent.

I understood that but in the device tab at the db-08's type column I manually changed it from tv to dvd when I input the setup code. If you look in the file I posted on db-08 it's set to DVD (before adding the device upgrade file) yet it still set the keymoves to TV.
I just did a test. I took an older IR file that I had not changed the settings for db-08 on the General tab. Went to the Device tab and added the device upgrade file. When it asked me I assigned it to db-08 device and saved it. Closed IR, reopened IR and opened that file again. Under General tab db-08 is now set to type:DVD, Code:0631 but in the keymoves tab it's still set to TV in the first column. Should IR have set that to DVD too? I assumed it would.

UEI remotes only have support for 8 actual devices, numbered 0 through 7. db-08 is a vurtual device (though I don't know what that means exactly

), but the remote treats it as device 0 (8-8=0), and the TV device is device 0. If you assign something to db-09, it should appear as device 1 (VCR?), db-10=device 2, etc

In both those statements, I think you're confusing device type with device mode. Either that or confusing what the device multiplexor protocol multiplexes.
The device type (DVD I assume) of the upgrade is irrelevent to the device mode that you install and use it in. The Device multiplexor protocol changes the setup code of the current device mode. It does not change which device mode is current.
Thus you want to use all three setup codes within the DVD mode. So all their Keymoves must be bound in that mode.

db-08 is a device mode. It shares all KeyMoves with the TV device mode.
What you told IR to do (and what it did) was:
1) Install the DVD/0631 upgrade
2) Set device MODE db-08 to use device TYPE DVD and setup code number 0631
3) Install a bunch of KeyMoves having device TYPE DVD and setup code 0631 (and various hex commands) all bound in the KeyMove Device MODE shared by db-08 and TV.
As we keep saying there are only eight device modes for KeyMoves, even though there are more than eight device modes for some other purposes.

Ok, I understand. I just assumed when IR set db-08 to type:DVD, Code:0631 that it would associate the keymoves to DVD device button. I obviously assumed wrong.

Well, after changing the first column of those keymoves manually yesterday and testing it today, all is working well. Again thanks for the help.
