8811 F.FWD and F.REW not considered transport keys?

it appears the F.FWD and F.REW keys are not in the transport group
when it comes to Home Theatre mode. was this an oversight? i searched
forums and did ot see any reference to this...i would think it frustrates
people using HT button. am i missing something here?
i have not made the leap to extenders yet, which i'm sure would allow
me to do what i want...just curious about the standard HT button groups.
thanks, phil

ps.
i think i read some new ofa remotes won't have 6 pin connectors. is it time
to get a spare remote or is that jumping the gun? i love the 8811 (8810w)
and would be pissed if it died and i could not replace it easily.

When UEI does something stupid (like that) they don't tell us why they did it.

Maybe it was in the previous JP1 forum. I've commented several times on the stupidity of that design by UEI and the fact that my extender fixes that design error.

The most common decision about HT by non extender users is that it is too flawed to be worth the trouble of using. But some people do use it despite the flaws.

Right, and why are you waiting and frustrating yourself?

Rob buys 8811's often enough that I would expect and hope that UEI will inform him when it is his last chance to buy any (when they're about to discontinue production). Most companies discontinuing such products inform regular buyers when they need to place the "end of life" order. I assume Rob would tell us if they tell him.

When my 15-2104's finish breaking and/or getting lost (a process taking surprisingly longer than I first expected) I plan to buy half a dozen 8811's. I don't want to buy them in advance, just in case something much better comes out, or in case the 15-2104's last beyond the point that this whole type of remote control technology remains in use. But right now the available market of remote controls contains nothing other than the 8811 which I would consider as a viable replacement for my remotes. So if there were an end of life announcement for them I'd want to get my order in.

thanks for comments :!:
i agree HT is generally useless, and i infact worked something up to create my own form of HT (assigned to a spare device button) using the device
combiner protocol...but..my VCR is a 2 byte beast and did not work with
that protocol so i relegated it to doing the best i could with HT and VPT and
all was fine (VCR not very demanding device) except for the F.FWD and F.REW
buttons.

HOWEVER, i just stumbled on a fix:
i was selecting HT as the last step of a macro and getting the undesireable behavior. in that macro i was doing some TV things (TV did not map
those buttons) just before selecting HT. i found that if i reordered the
macro and selected VCR (VCR maps those buttons) as the last device before selecting HT, i get the
desired behavior! now i'm thinking of HT as an overlay ontop of the
last selected device and its working fine.

nice that i found this workaround but it makes this "not the last straw"
to push me into extender, not really a good thing :-) it'll happen sooner or later...up against the wall now and then.

thanks, phil
