6131 - Macro on device select?

I have a 6131 and have had no luck creating macros on the device selection keys (such as VCR).
I would like VCR to perform an AUX,8,VCR but so far, no luck. Is this possible?
Also, what is the "Shift" Key on the 6131?
Thanks

Like all other JP1 remotes, the shift key is the SET key.
You can only have macros on the device selection keys if you install the extender. Do you have a modified 6131? The stock 6131 isn't JP1 ready.

Thanks, that helped a bit (didn't have the extender).
This is a 6131 I modified myself.
After using the extender it still doesn't work right. The extended stuff just doesn't seem to be being activated. Strange thing is, after lots of futzing, it worked once. Thought, ah-ha and then with the next upload, it stopped working....
Is there something I need to do to activate the extender?
I read it back out of the remote and it looked right.
The easiest thing I am trying to get to work is change TV so it only turns the TV on or off.
My macro says X_TV;Power.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks.

Every extender needs to be activated after an upload or a remote reset. This should be clearly explained in the extender documentation.

I've had a 6131 for quite a while. I sent it in to OFA about 6 months ago to add some codes.
They added the JP1 connection to the remote... Will this extender work with the EEPROM that they installed?

More than likely not. OFA is now using 1k EEPROM's and the extender only work's with 2k EEPROM's. Download to IR and see if you can figure out if it is 1 or 2K
I think someone is working on a 1k version for the 6131.
