I have been trying to learn a command for dvd folder on my sony dvd jukebox. I keep getting the same learned codes. There are 2 different lines showing it in the learned box. I learned the same folder key on 7 keys hoping it would work. The learned key works but I cannot use it by using 030 EFC. Any help will be appreciated

DVD/0533 just includes signals for Sony20:26.73
The EFC (30) is correct (for 6 of those 7 learned signals) they are for the "Folder DVD" signal list here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/Sony_dvd.htm#dvdb
The other one (of the seven), EFC 32 is for "Folder CD". But both of them are Sony20:26.98, not Sony20:26.73, so they can't be generated by the setup code DVD/0533

You should create an extra upgrade with a different setup code, for Protocol Sony20, device 26, subdevice 98. Then install that setup code with no keys defined (on KM or RM's buttons sheet) and don't assign it to any device key. Finally create your keymoves with the EFC numbers you found, but using that setup code.

Thanks

It is amazing, I have worked on setting the remote up the way I want it for 3 years for this jukebox. This finishes it. Are there very many other devices that use different codes for some functions?

Would I be correct saying that there is no way to write a caode that uses 2 seperate Protocols or device? Or dou you just have to use key moves?

You could build an upgrade from scratch using one of the Sony Combo protocols. You can combine a lot of things with that but did you check out the Yahoo groups? There are a couple of Sony Mega-changer upgrades there. You could start with one of them and add any missing functions. The advantage of an upgrade is that you can customize button placement to more logical positions, print out the keymap for reference , and save it . Once you have it you could convert it for use in a different model (JP1 of course) remote in the future ; and of course share it with others if it someone hasn't done so already.

The upgrade with no keys defined will save upgrade memory over a completely new upgrade device but kind of assumes that the built in code handles most functions adequately , which I can't see 0533 doing , knowing how many functions it must miss for you. Your remote looks like it has a fair amount of learning and upgrade memory , but very little keymove and macro memory so a new upgrade device with carefull planning to minimize keymoves might be your best choice.

As Steve explained, you can build an upgrade with a Sony Combo protocol that includes both 26.73 and 26.98 (and more) in the same setup code.

The way I described (and I guess you already did) is easier (to get the two commands you asked for).

If Steve is right that you need a lot of KeyMoves to patch DVD/0533 into decent support for your device, then you are better off starting with one of the posted combo upgrades as he suggests.

If it only takes a few KeyMoves to get DVD/0533 the way you want then building the new upgrade would use a lot of upgrade memory to save a little KeyMove memory. That may still be the right thing to do if you run out of KeyMove memory (the memory areas are seperate so you might run out of KeyMove memory while your upgrade memory has plenty of room).

Thank you

I found an upgrade code at yahoo that did everything great.

Thanks
