Keymoves with 15-1995

I'm rockin' now!! I've almost got things set the way I want , but there is another issue. I want to be able to control the volume on my receiver while watching a DVD and leaving the remote in the DVD mode. I tried a keymove but it didn't work. I have the DVD assigned to the SAT button, however, the SAT doesn't have a Volume function (assigned under the funcitons tab of KM). Could this be why it doesn't work?

I also tried it from a different tack by using the Home Theater capability of this remote, but since I'm using SAT for DVD control, it doesn't give me any contols for ffwd, stop, etc.

Is there another way to do this?

If I could assign an EFC to the presently blank volume buttons (under SAT), what would the code be?

Thanks,
Tom

If the remote has Volume Punch Through then that is what you need. In IR look at the right hand grid in the General tab. That is where you set this up.

Simply select VPT status to on and VPT device to the device you want.

Good idea. I didn't mention that I am already using VPT for the TV/Cable combination, but I should be able to do a key move with Cable or TV and then use VPT as you suggest for the DVD(SAT)/AMP combo.

Thanks, and great car!

M3 and M5, must be rough :)

I just realized that VPT to the AMP probably won't work, since when I'm just watching regular cable, I don't have the Amp on (I want to keep a way to control TV volume and cable channels in the same mode, but while watching a DVD, control volume through the amp without changing modes). And from what I know, VPT will affect only certain devices. I can still try it and see what happens.

No other BMW's but a few Loti.

Ahh the assumption is always that one device handles the volume. Having said that using the extender version you can control the VPT from a macro so that you can assign the VPT based on what you want.

LOTI eh! Chaterham here as well.

OK, guess I need to start learning about extenders. I saved my file, so if I mess up, it should be easy to go back. Is there a help file somewhere for extenders?

Caterham too  You got me beat! Where do you drive them? I'm looking to buy a shifter kart for my next toy...Yeah, Yeah, I know, you have one of them too.

Hey Tom,
I think we need to back up and find out why the keymove didn't work. If you're already using VPT for something else, keymoves are the right way to go to get the DVD device programmed to control the AMPs volume.

Did you do the keymove on the remote itself? If not, I think you should, as it eliminates several steps where user error could creep in.

No. But my brother and his son are into Kart racing.

Rob,

No, I didn't do the keymove on the remote, I used IR. I did notice that when I entered the EFC, it didn't register properly so I entered the hex value (which seemed to show up with the correct code i.e. $xx $xx - I didn't enter the $, the program added them). I will try doing it on the remote and see what happens. Thanks!

Think I'm going to get a Rotax cart as that's what most people are running here in Houston.

Cool. My brother owns a kart shop in Miami. Fittipaldi chassis, etc.

Hey, if you more probs just upload your config to the diagnosis area and we'll take a look at it.

Tried moving the key on the remote, but no joy. I'm pretty sure I did it right since when I press the key, the LCD display indicates the mode for that key (Amp/Tuner).

I can upload the file tonight if you think that's the next step.

Before uploading the file I'm having trouble with, I did a little more testing. It turns out I cannot do ANY keymoves (either manully on the remote, or in IR) associated with the amplifier. You may remember that is the upgrade that I was having trouble with on another thread, until I found the SA-HE200 file for my SA-HE100 Panasonic reciever. The upgrade works fine, but I can't do any keymoves (I did several other keymoves no problem, just to make sure I was doing it right). Does any of this new info give you guys and gals any ideas?

When you say you can't do keymove...what do you mean..

Can you actually code one in IR but then it doesn't work with the amp. IR doesn't know how to prevent a keymove from being created.

If you have created the KM's in IR then maybe it's an issue of the codes and then we'll need to help you with that.
