Help Mac user get started with RMIR

I have the software installed and it executes, I have Tommy's cable and eeProm adapter, and I have an 8910 remote. I am trying to get started with this, but I'm getting the message "No RDF matches signature starting" when I try to download from the remote. The remote itself was programmed many years ago with a parallel cable on a PC. Is there a test that I can perform to see if it is communicating?
What do I need to do?
Also, I'm not even sure which way the cable goes. The JP1 connector is symmetrical and the cable goes on either way. The cable is marked but not the remote.

It sounds like the remote is communicating, since it is reading the signature.

Make sure you have downloaded the RDF's and Maps and Images.
In RMIR, make sure the Folder is set to find the RDFs.

there is a white outline around the 6 pin connector on the 8910. If you look closely, there is a notch in one corner. That is pin 1.l

OK, I see the notch, but I still get the error.
I have the rdf files in a folder and the software sees them. I can open an 8910 rdf without having to navigate.
I see two files in a Mac OSX i386 folder. Do these need to be placed somewhere? Are these the port drivers? Have others made this work on a Mac? I know getting the software to come up under Java is easy enough, but getting drivers to work is always a pain.

I was hoping a Mac user would jump in. It seems to me that I read that we've had success on a MAC. I think I read that they didn't need to use VM ware any longer, but I didn't pay much attention.
I did the google site search on MAC but there is just too much reading for me to find the links where it was working.
I hope you find a solution.

THANK YOU!!!
The driver on the very last page was missing. It works now.
Somehow that thread never came up in my searches.
And no VMWare is necessary.

And to add some irony to this, the hard drive on my Mac crashed this morning before I could put any of this to work. I was at the point where I had downloaded all the upgrades I need and the extender, but I still hadn't imported them all into RMIR.
All the software will be gone when I recover as I hadn't done the backup for a few weeks. It's probably the only thing I lost so no big deal.
