JP1 Remotes

I've looked all over and I can't seem to find any info on creating RDF files. I have a Universal Electronics Potenza ST remote that I need an RDF file for. It detects in IR as an Atlas OCAP PVR 3033 JP1.3 (Black)/Atlas OCAP (Silver) [30333033: JP1.3 (Samsung S3F8)] device, and I am able to program most of the buttons, but several key buttons are unavailable. Can anyone help direct me on what I need to do?

Well the good news is that most of the RDF is done, since we have remotes with the signature.
I asume the buttons that you are searching for are the

-,Aspect, OnDemand and Macro1 & Macro2.

Those buttons are probably already in the RDF but the names are changed.

The - is probably Enter[*], Aspect is probably [#] and the other three OnDemand, Macro1 and Macro2 are either F1, F2, and F3. You'll have to do some experimenting to figure out which is which.

The RDF Specification document came bundled with IR.


You can create a new RDF by copying your RDF and changing a the button names. You should also create maps for use with RM and RMIR.

This looks nearly identical to the RCA RCRP05B. Can you post an upload?

That is definitely not HCS08 processor! The Atlas 3033 should be used as a starter, and the 5 key names need to be changed.

Create a macro with the missing keys, and then you'll find the missing keys.


Find where the keys say F1(34), F2(35) and F3(36) and should correspond to keys Macro1, OnDemand and Macro2 that you loaded into your macro.

Ok, by creating a macro I found the missing keys:

Skip Forward = (56) TuneIn1
Movies = (57) TuneIn2
Music = (41) [*]
Media = (42) [#]/Enter
Promos = (58) TuneIn3
Phone = (37) PhantomB
Help = (28) FAV

So now that we have found these, what is the next step?

I'm confused.

Where did you get those numbers? First you said you were looking at the OCAP, but that didn't have the TuneIN Labels, so it looks like you were using the other 3033 Atlas. But those numbers are neither the hex, nor the decimal for the TuneIns from the Atlas.

I got those numbers from where it listed the buttons in ir.exe under the upgrade section. Where should I be looking?

The Skip Foward/Movies/Music/Promos/Phone and Help are not pictured on the remote that you listed. So you and I have been severely miscommuniction.

On the Device page, that just lists the order of the key in a particular style upgrade. We want the keycode of the keys.

The keycodes can be found in the RAW DATA view of the Macro. If you highlighted the Macro in a nice light color you could switch over to ROM tab and see the keycodes of the keys.

But in this case we'd want you to look in the [Buttons] section of the remote's RDF.

if you were starting from the Atlas Day instead of the OCAP you'd find these words. The Ocap uses different names for these keys.

macro1:TuneIn1=$34,
macro2:TuneIn2=$35,
macro3:TuneIn3=$36,

If you replaced these lines with
macro1:Skip_Forward=$34,
macro2:Movies=$35,
macro3:Promos=$36,

it would change the button names in IR and RM

I am sorry, i just noticed that the buttons on my remote are actually named different than the picture. The "On Demand" is labeled Movies on mine, "Fav" is Help, * and # are replaced with music and media, and macro1 and macro2 are labeled promos and phone.

Also, I'm not seeing a ROM tab in ir.exe. I'm using version 8.03, do I have the wrong version or do I need to enable something?

Whoops I meant RawData, not ROM. Nothing like adding misinformation to add to the confusion. I edited my post above to say RAW DATA instead of ROM.
