JP1 Remotes

I'm back here with a new problem. A friend of mine give me an ir keyboard with integrated mouse function. The box contains only a floppy and a 4 page manual (and the keyboard IR-KM + the PS2-IR adapter of couse). The box has no brand on it and the keyboard too. The floppy contains only a "onetouch keyboard driver" setup V1.1. I tried many times to learn some keys but my URC8206 learned nothing. What can I do else than throw away the keyboard and buy a new one? And in the case this was the only solution what IR-KM keyboard is compatible with my urc8206 ?

P.S. I found a label on the back of the box that tells "ITEK 3238" sticked near the barcode.

Sure it's really IR and not RF? And if it is IR, is it emitting anything? Point keyboard at a digital camera and have a look in the viewer and you should see a flickering light (note that this won't work with some expensive high-end cameras that have special displays but wil work with almost all standard digital cameras).

Yes I'm sure it has two IR LED well visibles in the front side.

Did you try looking at them through a digital camera viewfinder, just to verify that they're sending something when the buttons are pressed?

I'm no expert, but I think this is probably an IrDA keyboard, in which case the signals are totally different than the Consumer IR a remote could learn.

In any case, although it would be cool to get it working, I don't understand how putting a full keyboard on a JP1 remote could be in any way practical or usable. How could you possibly remember all the keys?

On the other hand, just a mouse, number pad and cursor keys work quite well. Just google usb pc remote. You'll find many for about $10. Those work fine with a JP1 remote. Rob already worked out the protocols, and upgrades are in the file section.
