JP1 Remotes

I used to use a Tommy Tyler cable for years since the connector fits through the hole in the remote case. When that failed I switched to what I have now, with six separate pin connectors held together with black insulating tape. It's a mess.

If anyone knows of a cable which works the same way as the Tommy Tyler one I wold love to know about it. I did search but found nothing suitable.

Tommy has designed many cables, so simply saying your old cable is one of his, doesn't narrow things down much. Anyway, your URC-7555 is a JP1.2 remote, so it will work well with FTDI FT232RL cables, which is probably what your cable with the separate connectors is. If it's the connectors that you have an issue with, it's simple to replace the 6 individual connectors with a single 2*3 connector. However, you can't typically buy just 1 connector, you'll have to buy a lot.

It's possible they won't fit the aperture in the case but for £7 it's worth the risk.

Just make sure you pick one that includes some 2*3 connectors, as many of them are just 1* connectors.

These Dupont connectors are tiny, much smaller than the ones we used to use on JP1 cables, so they will definitely fit.

Well I bought a pack which included the 3x2 format ones.

What a fiddly job that was! Prising up a plastic flap with one hand, pulling on the wire with the other hand and pulling back on the connector with the other other hand....

And sadly it does not work reliably. About 50% of the time I get "no remotes found". But it is still quicker than plugging the four connectors one at a time.
