22 years ago I got a "free" Cinema 7 remote when I bought my first HDTV. Shortly thereafter, I joined this group and have barely missed a day since then. Merry Christmas to Rob and everyone who contributes here for improving my life since then.

Jp1 sure does enrich one's life
I joined 10 years ago because you need to be a member to download stuff and i was interested in IR.exe
Since I did not know much about this site or if I would ever use it again.
I came up with the stupid name of "HamburgerHelper1" in case I never visited this site again.
I regret the stupid User name but I do not regret Joining
and now I might as well keep the name
Merry Christmas to all

The JP1 project started for me in Oct 2000 when HW Hackr (Dan Nelsen) made
this post at Remote Central. My OFA/RS remote expertise had started maybe a year earlier when I discovered that the Apex AD600A DVD player could be hacked to be region free using a Cinema 7 remote, and it seemed pretty similar to the Radio Shack 15-1994 remote that I was already using. I discovered this info on the
nerd-out.com site.
Dan published the spec to a homemade JP1 cable, which in those days was a circuit board with about $20 worth of parts that you had to buy and solder together. I sent my 15-1994 into UEI asking them to add ReplayTV to it, which meant that I had the first (that we know of) upgraded 15-1994, which we could then download and figure out.
