Computer controlled remote

I'm looking into JP1 remotes and I can't seem to find an answer. I want to know if, when the remote is plugged into the computer, the computer can control the remote to send IR commands through the JP1.x interface. Thanks for any help.

No, the computer is used to program the remote, but you need to detach it from the computer in order to use it.

Yeah the computer is just what you're using to upload new information to the remote. Once that's done, the changes you've made are saved and you can then detach the remote.
