yes, it was db-08, i wondered what that meant.
i've really looked at the .rdf files directly (i'm still a newbie at this) but i'll see what i can do.

Home Theater sets the device to db-08 on the 8910/9910 just like on the 2116/2117.
Because the learned signals are stored w/ a 4 bit device number vs. 3 bit device numbers for keymoves, you can learn to the Home Theater "device" but can't do keymoves.
I seem to remember thinking that there were a couple exceptions due to special HT processing, but generally you should be able to learn to most of the buttons in the Home Theater "device".

Since Phantom has verified that the new non-donut 8910/9910 will learn to almost any key in "HT" mode, isn't the next obvious step for someone with a donut 8910/9910 to see if that version will as well? It took almost a year after the 2116/7 was out until edmund made the discovery with that model; Is this a case with the 8910/9910 as well, or was there a firmware change made along with that change in the arrow keys?

Jim, It would not hurt for someone else to verify it but I don't believe there is any difference in the 2 versions since the RDF and extender work the same on both with no problems. I also remember doing learnes on the old model in HT myself before it got destroyed (2 kids had a disagreement and the remote lost)

I think people would get a kick out of the tutorial on "How not to handle a remote"
