I recieved and email today after inquiring about my cable. Evidently Richard has been down with mono. He did say my cable would be shipping soon, so I assume yours will too.

I've been sick

My appologies for any delays in the past month. I've had mono and it has all but paralized me. I'm working very hard to catch up on orders and should be back up to date on monday 3-21-05. Many thanks to those who sent get well e-mails. We do this in our spare time and have real jobs to feed our families. Thank you to all for your patience.
Richard

Is HovisDirect still in business?

Hi,

I ordered a JP1 cable from HovisDirect last Wednesday, April 13. I paid by paypal. I never received confirmation from HovisDirect about the order. Nor have a received a reply to the email I sent to them on Monday morning.

Have I just potentially lost my money?

Thanks for any help.

Allan

I know Richard posted that he had been under the weather a month or so ago. He might still be playing catch up.

Shipping to Canada takes a little longer to arrive than shipping to the United States. I also don't have the ability to send confirmations of all of my orders to my clients currently. I take care of all of my orders and if the package dosen't arrive soon will work the situation with you. Thank oyu for your business.

Just received cable in the mail today. I have not had a chance to test yet. But just wanted to let everyone know that it was received.

Sorry if this the wrong place to put this. I order a jp1 cable from hovisdirect.com on 9/7/2005 and he took the money out on the 8th. So I email him to see how long it would take to ship to TX, and his reply 3-4 days. I get home from work on Monday check the mail, still no cable. So I email him....no reply. I email this guy 3 or 4 times with no reply. So I file a complaint with paypal on Friday. Here it is, Sunday 9/18/2005 still no reply from him or jp1 cable. I will never buy somthing from (Hovis Direct)(Richard).

I was going to order from surf remote control....but they said the best place to get it from was Hovis Direct.
So guys i need this cable and i was thinking of ordering it from bluedo.com....is this a good place to order from.

Thanks

I recall reading something about Hovis direct & health problems. So a delay might be expected. Don't despair. No ripoff here, Rob wouldn't allow it :D
My favorite place is filebug. Bluedo was ok too, but the support from filebug and the quality of cable impressed me:

My experience has been that HovisDirect always honors his orders, although since I suspect this is not his primary source of income, it may not be the number one priority and sometimes takes a while to receive his items. Slow but never a ripoff.

Patience is a virtue.

For an example of a few disgruntled and ultimately satisfied customers, see THIS THREAD.

I echo the earlier comments, Richard has had a history of getting behind on his cables which in turn means users having to wait for them, but he's always shipped the cables eventually.

Just FYI, there are now three people making cables for the JP1 community. In addition to Richard at hovisdirect.com, there's also...

jp1.filebug.com and
diygadget.com
