Just to let you know, the remote rattles. Something I had never noticed before. I will take a look at it and see if it I can re-solder the portion of the modem you spoke about.

Glue was all busted up around the modem but am quite sure that the wires are still attached to the board itself.

Both are for the URC-8910. The outside case has URC-8910B02 but the inside on the board has URC-8910B00. Does this make a difference?

All is lost. I checked the modem wiring again and did notice that one of the wires was disconnected from the board. I knew I had to be careful getting it back on but it seems as though I fried the modem. When I try to go to download now it just says error. So, I may be able to get it replaced under the product replacement plan from the store where I bought it but who knows. Funny enough the rest of the remote works fine. Maybe I could just suffer and use the original remote for the receiver from now on. Guess that all depends on if the store will replace it or not. Thanks for all your help and I will post to let you know what happens from here on in.

If you get yourself a $14 JP1 cable, it won't matter whether the modem works.

Looks like thats what I will have to do. I am not much for waiting. thats the only reason I have tried the wav file incessantly. I will get a cable ordered this week. Thanks for all your help Rob.
