The 10 pad thing is probably for some sort of diagnostic testing by UEI, so I have no idea if any of the pads are equivalent to the pins on the normal 6-pin. Dolivas, if you're still willing to take pictures, could you do so, as that might give us some idea of what the pads are for and whether there's room for a 6-pin connector anyway.

I think UEI would put the 6-pin on all their mid to high end remotes if they could, but their hands are often tied by what the client wants.

There is supposedly a remote called the SmartControl in the pipeline that does have a 6-pin connector.

SmartControl appears to be the OARI06G which Rob has already confirmed won't work with IR :(

In the OARI06G thread, Rob mentions that the UK and US versions will be different and the SmartControl link is obviously UK, so that may be why there seems to be conflicting info.

UK version you're talking about? Labelled as the URC 7960.

Bad News guys the OARN08G also does not have any JP1.x connector... I will try to get you guys some pictures soon going out of town for a week.

Had to crack it open before I left town and it has the same 10 pads and is also marked JP2 :evil:

They are easy to add codes to, if they are assembled and have the programming pins directly available.

So did anyone ever get pictures of the board? Looking at Rob's new 'market place' it is clear we are really short of decent remotes! Seems like this JP2 thing is going to become more and more prevalent.

It is for a JTAG connector? That is certainly interesting - how did you gleam this (if you can tell us).
