Dell Vostro 1400/1500 has an IR receiver. You can control it media centre with a remote. The remote can be bought from Dell. I want to program my JP1 remote to work with it, but I don't know the code. What I know is it uses Philips RC6 protocol. If anybody has the remote, you can get the code with a learning remote.
If anybody has the code, please post.
Thanks!

Why no answers? Its probably because you didn't follow the directions for this forum. You need to use the template. But as long as I'm here I think you ought to check out this thread. This deals with the Dell Media center.
Dell Media Center.
Dell Media Center.
I almost posted a stupid answer earlier based on the "RC6" in the original post and ignoring the "Dell" and "media centre" hints.
MCE protocol is in the Philips RC6 family of protocols, but what we call "RC6 protocol" is just the original member of the family. The protocol you want is what we call "MCE", not what we call "RC6".
That old thread is probably still informative, especially the last few posts. But I think our tools have better support now for MCE protocol than you might guess from that thread.
I don't know what a "Dell Vostro" is, so even after reading that and other threads you still might need to do some guess and check about the device number.
In that old thread, I said

So 43.28 is a good guess. But a related Dell device could use anything from 0.28 through 127.28. I don't know if we've even recorded which Dell devices use which device numbers as people have discovered any after those first two.0.28 --> Dell "advanced TV"
43.28 --> Dell Media center

I do have a MCE remote, it does not work with Dell Vostro 1500 IR receiver.
It needs this remote to operate which I do not have.

Your MCE remote uses the MCE IR protocol with a specific device number (probably one of the Microsoft device numbers) that is different from the device number used by the Vostro.qingz wrote:I do have a MCE remote, it does not work with Dell Vostro 1500 IR receiver.
To operate the device, the protocol needs to match AND the device number needs to match. In creating a JP1 upgrade for MCE, you can select any device number you want. The trick is guessing the device number for the Vostro.
Edit: Now that I read the page you linked: Where did you get "RC6" from?
If Dell calls the protocol "RC6", I'm sure the correct protocol is "MCE". But from looking at the page you linked, I see no clue what protocol it is.

Why do you have a JP1 cable if you don't have a JP1 remote? And what would you do with a JP1 upgrade if you had it? Are you really trying to program a Slingbox or something?qingz wrote:4. JP1/UEI Remote model: n/a

Sorry, I mean the specific remote from Dell in the link is not JP1 remote. I do have a JP1 remote which is RCA RCU810.The Robman wrote:Why do you have a JP1 cable if you don't have a JP1 remote? I got RC6 from other forum. He successfully programmed his Logitech Harmony remote to work with the Dell laptop. He said it is RC6.johnsfine wrote:Your MCE remote uses the MCE IR protocol with a specific device number (probably one of the Microsoft device numbers) that is different from the device number used by the Vostro.qingz wrote:I do have a MCE remote, it does not work with Dell Vostro 1500 IR receiver.

Found a match, Dell Media Center Remote. Trancoded it with the JP1 tools for your RCA RCU810. Apparently, looking at the information regarding this remote it is compatible with quite a few devices.qingz wrote:1. Device: Dell Vostro 1500 Laptop
