DGTEC DG-HD8710 Device Upgrade

Post by dazman61 »

Hello all. It's been some time since I've to ask to ask the JP1 "think tank" for some help. I don't buy new equipment very often any more. This one has me stumped. I recently purchased the above HD set top box and set about creating a device upgrade. After a few "dirty" learned signals I ended up with all the keys in memory. When tested on the unit the learned commands worked fine. In IR the protocol was identified as NEC1 with device numbers 1 and 256. All the EFC data was there. I created the upgrade and voila, nothing worked. Back to the learned commands (stored as another device) and they still worked flawlessly. My many attempts have included re-learning the commands, trying NEC 2 protocol and, after a search of the forums, using the DGTEC upgrade protocol from the 2000A STB. Still no joy. Any advise anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I've tried all of the above in my HT Pro and my Cinema 7. I have posted the IR file from my C7 to the diagnosis area.

Look more carefully. It is device 1, subdevice 246.

256 is not a valid subdevice number, but KM doesn't generate an error when you put in 256. Instead it takes the low 8 bits of 256, which is zero.

Anyway, even if 256 were merely wrong rather than also impossible, the upgrade wouldn't work without the correct subdevice 246.

Brilliant!! Changed to the correct sub-device and all is working fine. It's amazing when you get certain numbers programmed into your brain that you can look at the same thing a hundred times and not "see" what you are looking at!

Thanks Again!!
