Problem with Accurian HD tuner and Westinghouse 47w1 remotes

Post by kbohrer »

It turns out that the Accurian ATSC (HD) tuner and the Westinghouse LCD 47w1 TV respond to some of the same codes. I verified the duplication in the KM files. This is causing bizarre behavior, like when I press "meter" on the Accurian it also causes the Westinghouse to "sleep". The "Back" on the Accurian is the "SVideo" on the Westinghouse, so it changes input sources when I'm trying to navigate menus or channels on the Accurian. Needless to say, this is very annoying.

I'm pretty new to this, but I have managed to program my 8910 to handle 2 Replays, a Denon A/V receiver, an IPOD dock, a Samsung TS360 settop box, a Toshiba VCR, a KLH DVD player, and the offending Accurian HD tuner and Westinghouse LCD TV. So, I'm familiar with the basic JP1 programming tools.

Any suggestions ? Is there any trick with subdevice numbers that would help ?

thx,
- Kathy

Do these two devices use the same protocol and device codes? If so, then it's very unlikely that there's anything that can be done to cure it.

Even if they use different protocols, there still isn't much that can be done, but it might be possible to tweek the protocols so that the main device still responds but the other doesn't. However, I should point out that we've not had any success doing this in the past.

Kathy,

I also have an Accurian ATSC receiver. Did you use a standard Mfr Code? If so, what code did you use? If not, do you have an upgrade file you're willing to share?

I am also brand new to this JP1 stuff and have an URC-8910.

Thanks,
Mike
