2 Devices - same code?

Post by pinkrdp »

I have an issue with my Samsung SIR-TS160 SAT Receiver and my Harmon-Kardon AVR-130 Receiver. It appears that the SAT #4 code is close enough to the RCVR PowerOFF that when in SAT mode with RCVR as audio, pressing the "4" key powers OFF the RCVR. This works on the original factory remote as well. Any suggestions? I am looking into the details and raw data to see if there are any clues.
Thx,
Ronnie

Can you change the unit address on either (the satellite receiver most likely)?

Not sure what the unit address is? Setup code, Device number, Subdevice, or Param??
Thx,

What he meant was, does your SAT box have the ability to be re-programmed so that it responds to different unit codes (aka system codes, remote addresses, etc). This is a common feature for SAT boxes and some other devices as it lets the user have more than one of an identical device.

However, I haven't heard of the Samsung boxes using unit codes.

Got it. I don't think so. No external switch or anything in the manual.

If you mean RCVR OFF as in Discrete Off, then can you use power toggle as a workaround? If you mean RCVR OFF as in the normal power (i.e. toggle function) button then the search is on (here, at Remote Central etc.) for a discrete Off for your RCVR device.

Either that or program SAT #4 (do you mean Num4?) as a macro to be Num3 followed by Ch+ (then 4 becomes 3 and change up one channel, 14 becomes 13 and then up one etc. but, admittedly, my plan falters at channel 40 :? ).
