One For All URC-6430 remote and simpleset.com
Hi, I don't know if this is the right place for this question but here goes.
I have a Humax Foxsat recorder and just bought a One For All URC-6430 remote. When I try to customise it on the web site I do not have a programe to open bin file and can not seem to find one. Any idea how to do this, thanks.

What model is your One for All remote? Does it have a USB lead and show up on your PC as an external drive containing a file called simpleset.bin? If so, you are in luck. Yesterday we released the first version of RMIR to support this latest type of remote. Please see this thread for more details.

Every model of remote needs a file called an RDF (Remote Description File) for RMIR to support it. Several of the developers have the 4-device URC-6440 but we don't have a 3-device URC-6430. So we will need your help to create an RDF for the URC-6430.
To help us, please post a simpleset.bin file from your remote in the Diagnosis area of the File Section and post a link to it here. That will give us much of the information we need.
Next you need to install RMIR so that you can test what we produce. The instructions for installing RMIR are in this link. However, the files you should use are those linked to in the post you have already read, as these are more recent than the ones on SourceForge.
After that, you need to wait for us to give you an RDF file to try. That should not take long after we have your simpleset.bin file. It would help us to know if you have ever connected your remote to the simpleset.com website. If you have not done so, please do NOT do so until we have your remote up and running with RMIR.

Hello. I also have a URC6430 and I need to add the "Open/Close" DVD tray command. I can send you the .bin file I downloaded, but I totally ignore all the steps ahead. Can you help me?
The .bin is for a Tag McLAren DVD32FLR

URC-6430
I managed to use the software correctly. However, the function Open/Close tray is not available. Is this programmable? How?

I've uploaded a trial RMDU file for you to test. It includes some functions not given in setup code 0894. Eject is apparently OBC 45, based on this file from RemoteCentral.
After you load this RMDU file in RMIR, you'll need to go to the Buttons or Layout tab in the Device Upgrade Editor and assign Eject to some button. There is also a Discrete Power Off and a few other commands that I hope you'll try to see if they work.
BTW, the bin file that you uploaded to the DVD upgrade area is not an upgrade. It should have been placed in the Diagnosis section.

Thanks!!!
Superfast help you gave. I assigned the eject button as you mentioned and some other new functions as suggested; the saved a new RMDU file. To convert the RMDU I had to get it into the RDF,. Then uplaoded it to the remote... And it's working! Thanks a lot!!!

Well... noob experience!
I tried a lot to convert the RMDU to a .bin, but no chance. Then I opened the URC-6430 RDF and in the DVD line, just imported the trial RMDU you created. saved the RDF file and gave the upload command... and voilà, done! I searched around the forum for a step by step help and got here by trying this. Didn't find any conclusive help like "Remotes for Dummies". So, by picking this & that, I finally made it. Works like a charm. Thanks, you rock.

I think by RDF file you probably mean an RMIR file. RDF stands for Remote Definition File, and it describes the properties of your remote like the names of the buttons, how much memory it has, the type of microprocessor, etc. A RMIR file contains information about upgrades, learned signals, etc which can be or have been uploaded to your remote.

I am looking for the RDF for URC-6430.
did you create it?
do you still have it?
thanks in advance
