I will probably get a cable eventually, when my 8810 remote dies. Dropping $30 on a cable isn't a priority for me right now. If someone wanted to lend me a JP1.3 cable, I'd be happy to help develop an RDF. Anybody local to the area of Newport News, VA?

The keys look like they could be backlit, but they are not.

I just posted an upgrade for my new NS-L46Q120-10A, which uses this remote. I don't have every single key coded, as I don't use them all. I did manage to get the zoom key coded by using a tip from an old post that resulted from a forum ...

Guys,
I used Rob's upgrade as a basis for my upgrade for my new NS-L46Q120-10A. I can confirm that the EFC 421, which is also EFC 164 does work for the zoom function on this TV.

I've got one that came with a 46" insignia HDTV. Unfortunately, I don't have a JP1.3 cable to try it out. Here is the connector. I don't see an obvious way to open up the remote to se what is inside.

Posted H20 file

This evening I took the time to modify the D10 file and added all the missing functions that are on the RC24 remote that comes with the H20 receiver. I used my learning remote to add all the keys except "format", which was the one I really wanted, of course. This one wouldn't learn cleanly, so I had ...

I got the last one at my local store. It was obviously a return. The package wasn't even stapled, and the remote had batteries in it.

I can deduce the reason for the return by the first sentence the clerk asked when I wanted to know where the universal remotes were kept, "What components would you ...

So you want more care to start a macro with a command that is very unlikely to be the last used manual command. ... So the extreme solution may be to find some OBC that the device "ignores" and send that at the start (maybe also at the end) of a macro so that any command can safely follow it in ...

I did a couple more test cases that show that John and Mike are right about how the bit is toggled. It is flipped on every IR command, not just when it is the same key pressed.

You missed an important rule about the device receiving the command. ... you only need to worry about the toggle bit when you want to send the same command twice in a row to a device.

John,
You are right. I did not know this. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll have to think through this behavior ...

Jon,

Thanks for the discrete power commands suggestion. Like I said in the post above, I actually solved my macro problem. My new macro never gets the TV and the remote out of sync because it does not allow an RC5 IR command to be directly followed by the same button press. This seems to have ...

The UEI remote toggles an internal bit every time a button that invokes a protocol is pressed, regardless of what protocol is used by the button.

Everything the remote thinks is an IR signal will toggle the state.

Mike and John,
From my testing, I think these statements may be mistaken. I ...

Jon,
Thanks for taking a look.

I gave the second device RC6 as a simplified example, but it seems to happen with all other protocols (at least the ones my components use), not just RC6.

Thanks for your quick response, Jon. I think my longwindedness has obscured my point.

The RC5 protocol has a toggle bit. Each time you press and release a button one bit toggles. For the SAME succesive key, the IR receiver must see the bit change or it doesn't interpret it as a new command. if you ...

Bizarre problem with RC5 protocall (long post)

I've discovered some strange behavior in the RC5 protocall which I think is an error, but I'm not sure. I'm reporting this to see if anyone else has noticed it, and also to see if it can be fixed.

New Philips TV discrete input codes discovered

I have a Philips widescreen HDTV, model 30PW862H. Six months ago I posted an upgrade file to the Yahoo group containing all the functions and codes on the factory remote. Recently I got a new DVD player and have been revisiting the JP1 topic. I got motivated to start with some previously posted ...
