JP1 Remotes

After bricking a 3680, I now do preliminary voltage [DC] checks on new cables before I use them.
If BLACK & RED are not 5v, I know the colors have been misassigned.
Once I establish that BLACK is ground, I test the other wires: YELLOW, 3+ v;* GREEN, 3+ v; BLUE, 1ish v & WHITE, 1ish v.

What message boxes do you get when you attempt to upload an RMIR image?

I do not.

When I tested out a replacement cable, one of my 3680s ceased to give lighted responses to key presses.
Now that I have an otherwise working cable, I get the following message boxes when I try to upload my RMIR files.

"The signature of the attached remote does not match the signature you are ...

I used heat-shrink tubing this time.

(It was not able to resuscitate my bricked 3680, however.)

I'm still not understanding how your cables wear out though.
It was mostly due to how deeply seated the JP1 port is in the C4000, and not having shrink tubing.

And the new cables were not seating at all.

My first cable worked fine until the Dupont pins snapped.
The three subsequent cables gave a "Remote not found" error right out of the box, and bricked one of my 3680s.

I took the Dupont end off of one of my new cables (that did not work) and mounted it on the end of my old cable. The latter worked when I applied pressure to it (on the the bricked 3680). I had to do that before my first cable went bad, too. That connection is too loose on the C4000 (compared to ...

At the Dupont side. RJ11* connector to RJ11 junction to RJ11 connector to Dupont 2x3.
If it works, I can just swap out the end piece when it wears out.

So far, I have spent $40 on three replacement cables and none of them have worked. My original one works except for the Dupont connector.

I proposed using an RJ11 telephone plug to repair the end of my first JP1 cable, which worked fine until the pins snapped off.
Is there any reason why that would not work?

I put the new pins on the old cable* and was able to bring up the upload box. The bricked 3680 will not allow me to write.

The Spectrum C4000 is still not found, but it feels like a loose connection.

Does anyone know what the cable's end pins are called and where I can get a crimper that is made for them?

The cable in this post has 3.3V TTL levels. Is that the same for the cable recommended in the wiki, here?
Could that be why my recent cables have not worked ...

I am using RMIR v3.0.15 (on Windows 11) and never had to actively configure my previous, working cable. It was plug-&-play.

The most recent cable ordered is also giving me a "Remote Not Found" error, too. I am going to repair my first cable to see if it is the cable or the remotes.
