Re: Easy way to test a remote?

So that's the quickest way to do it? I was hoping there might be something I could hook up to a PC via USB or something where I could just verify codes in real time.

Re: Easy way to test a remote?

you've basically got the idea. Here's basically the workflow

1) create an upgrade for JP1 specifically Xsight Color
2) learn upgrade to Sofabaton X2 from original remote and/or Xsight
3) but how do I test any remote codes for which I don't have the original device? e.g. verify that protocol/device ...

Re: NEC DS8000U VCR

I understand, I have not had a chance to test them all yet. My housemate and kid use the living room setup a lot so I try to keep my testing and tweaking to when they're not around, that limits my time for this somewhat.

Easy way to test a remote?

Good evening everybody

I'm still using the heck out of my Xsight Colors over here, but I did buy a Sofabaton X2 a few months ago and I am getting close to getting it functional for my living room. The problem that I am finding with Sofabaton is that they only let you learn codes, not input them in ...

Re: NEC DS8000U VCR

I don't think any of the buttons cause power on if off. Will have to look at the Remote Central code sets and if nothing there than just start brute force testing... nothing I haven't done before.

Now I've added another layer to my remote programming though, I'm using the Xsight to generate the ...

Re: NEC DS8000U VCR

Power toggle works, it's just that literally every single other component with a few exceptions in the living room has discrete power on/off codes which makes life so much easier - the exceptions are a sadly dying Chromecast Ultra, a Fire Stick 4K (which is frustratingly slow; I think it's telling ...

Re: NEC DS8000U VCR

Well now it's been a while (almost 3 years!), but I now have both this VCR and my Laserdisc player hooked up to a Zektor HDS4.1 switch (the upgrade that I made is in the file section, of course, although Zektor implements remote control in an interesting way so pretty much any code set will work ...

Re: help creating upgrade

I think most modern Denon AVRs share codes, here is a simple upgrade that I made (I included the day to day stuff but there are literally tons of codes)

Re: my living room RMIR file is corrupt?

OK after getting annoyed and taking another look at this, I think I see what the problem is. If you go to either of the devices I mention and go to "buttons" you will see that there's text in the "Alias" column. I did not type that in; I think this is a legit bug.

Now the other issue still remains ...

Re: my living room RMIR file is corrupt?

The TV is showing soft keys from my old Sony TV and the Sima AV switch is showing soft keys for I'm guessing a Sangean table radio that I used to have programmed in. I did a factory reset of the remote and re uploaded and still the same. May be other weirdness too that's just what I was trying to ...

Re: my living room RMIR file is corrupt?

Unrelated issue: it appears I am limited to 12 activities on an Xsight Color? I would have assumed 15

my living room RMIR file is corrupt?

app.php/file?file_id=27276

got a new TV and rearranged adding a Sima A/V switch. Is this file corrupt or is my Xsight dying? Soft keys do not match what's programmed.

Re: The File Section

Posting here just hoping it'll be seen... I just posted in a thread in the discrete codes forum but it's not showing in the "7 days" search. But, it's great to see the progress! (using this thread because I did upload a couple things I've done, and that's what the other post was about)

Re: Adcom GTP-450 (and 550, 600) tuner/preamp

All right, now that the file section is back up I uploaded the Adcom code lists plus the spreadsheet I created (I did proofread it and there was an embarrassing number of corrections that I had to do tonight.) Also upgrade for Adcom GTP-450 and a Sima A/V switch that I'd brute forced a while back. I ...
