It is with GREAT appreciation to Barf, The Robman, Mdavej and others who read and helped with my latest JP1 hurdle, that I am THRILLED to report: IT'S FIXED! :-)

Downloading the latest version was the answer. I'll note that I still got the Apple security warnings to start, but after going to ...

No intent to waste anyone’s time, for sure. Never received an update notice, nor realized I needed to look for one.

Appreciate the advice very much. Just to verify, what is the latest version, do I just load it on top of this one?

Any risk of losing my saved files?

Thank you again for the help ...

Robman, the problem seems to be that the RemoteMaster.jar file is not an application, so using the Go Menu approach doesn't work.

I can copy the RemoteMaster.jar file onto the desktop. But when I click to open that it says no Map files found, then it wants me choose the directory the map files are ...

Robman, the work around to start the RemoteMaster.Jar file without those security warnings worked great. Thanks!

It didn't fix the cable issue, but I didn't expect it to. It did get rid of an annoyance though, which is really nice.

While we're on a roll, is there a way to launch and quit Remote ...

Also, ever since I have been using Remote Master on my Mac, the way I started it was opening Finder, scrolling down to find the "RemoteMaster.Jar" file, then double clicking it and it would open.

Since upgrading to MacOS Catalina, I get a warning pop-up that says it cannot be opened because the ...

Barf,

There are no settable options in Remote - Interface - JPS.... SO I clicked on "Other" then cut & Pasted your suggestions: /dev/cu.usbserial-AH034K25, then after that /dev/tty.usbserial-AH034K25.

Same result: no remote found.

I called Apple Help. They said I needed the specific driver from the FTDI driver manufacturer. I explained I found one, but had no idea how to pin down the specific one for this cable. I did ask if I tried to download a driver for MacOS 10.9 and higher from FTDI.com, could I screw up anything Apple ...

Barf, I tried what you suggested. When I select interface I get 3 choices to click in the next pop-up: Auto-detect, CommHID..., and JPS...

Clicking auto detect shits down the open pop up windows.

Clicking CommHID..., opens another popup that says Select the desired port: either Auto-detect, HIS ...

Thanks Mdave...good to see you are still around. I actually found that site also tonight. My problem is they don’t list a driver for CatalinaOS vers 10.15.2, which what the kind folks at Apple did for me as an “upgrade”...LOL!

After a bunch of google searches I have determined that the MacOS upgrade to Catalina can frag the driver needed to run FT232R USB - Serial adaptors and other devices with this type of chip set.

Rather than going nuts trying to find the right driver and instal it so it works, tomorrow I'm calling ...

Hey Mr Barf, I found a set of instructions on-line for "Steps to Set Up a Serial Terminal". I am assuming our cable is a serial terminal?

Looks like it starts with the same commands you suggested and I tried.

I will play with that further tomorrow.

Well, I got Remote Master to work perfectly on my wife's Microsoft PC by using the setup file making short cuts per Robman's suggestion.

It was interesting when I plugged in my cable Windows had a pop-up saying something about configuring or setting up my cable, that happened pretty fast, then the ...

Thx Barf. I tend to agree with you, but I am not that good at computer commands to figure it out on my own, but I did as you suggested.

Not sure how to interpret these results. This is with the MacBook out of the dock.

The first command is without anything plugged in the USB.

The second is with ...
