Is there anything special needed to activate the extender on the 'nexus' variant?

I had no issues programming the 'Nexus' remote with my JP1.3 cable, and the extender seems to load in properly, but I've not been able to get it to activate. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or if there is ...

Thank you! That was an amazingly through and helpful reply. I'll rip mine apart and see what's going on. My other backlit remotes do indeed have translucent (lightly frosted) plastic panels. This is something a mini-cnc machine would make light work out of. too bad I don't have one.

Has anyone disassembled one of these? I have an RC06A-11 (non-backlit) but i really need the backlight if I want to replace my aging 8910.

I figured that either they used the same circuit board and I could install a backlight, or I could jury rig something. But I'm stuck figuring out how to take it ...

I actually have a Cricket that I bought for my daughter, but I never got around to creating a pin extender for it (my current cable won't attach as the pins are too deep in the remote). It isn't backlit and is pretty ugly, and isn't really ideal for my purposes.

Thanks for the heads up on the ...

Looking for a simple JP1 remote

I've been using an 8910 for something like 8 years now, and have found that the Atlas remotes are almost as good from a replacement perspective, so I use those on other sets. However, my usage has changed a lot , and these days what I want is a remote with many fewer keys. I no longer have a need ...

UEI remotes usually require a double-press of the record button before sending the signal. I have one extended remote that doesn't require the doublepress and it drives me nuts!

Hmm...I never even considered that it might be a feature. I just went back and looked at the manual and now I see ...

URC8910 oddities

I've been using an 8910 for years, but a year ago I broke down and learned to use RM and IR to add some custom codes for my new hardware, then I learned about extenders and I realized the true potential of my remote.

For the last year I've been basically happy with my setup except that controlling ...
