Easy VCR Programmer (15-1907) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 7970
Remote Control

INSTALLING BATTERIES/SETTING UP THE REMOTE

1. Remove the battery compartment cover and install four fresh AAA
alkaline batteries (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-555) as indicated by
the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked in the compartment. Then
    replace the battery compartment cover.

Note: Do not place objects on top of the remote control after you
install the batteries. This can press down keys and reduce
           battery life.

2. Press SHIFT-VCRPRO-4. The remote displays.

Note: Do not hold down SHIFT. Press and release it. Then enter the
           additional commands.

3. Use the number buttons to enter the correct hour and minute. Precede
    single-digit hours with a 0. For example, enter 0800 for 8 o'clock.

4. Press AM or PM to indicate morning or evening.

5. Use the number buttons to enter the date.

6. Press VOL up or down to select the correct month. To select the
correct year, continue advancing the month until the correct year
also appears. The remote automatically sets the correct day of the
    week.

7. To exit the clock setup mode, repeatedly press FF until the cursor
    passes the month setting.

Note: When the remote's range decreases or it operates erratically,
       replace the batteries.

SETTING THE CODES

1. Refer to "Manufacturer's Codes" faxback doc. # 7972 and write down the
codes for your product's original remote controls.

2. On the Easy VCR Programmer, press the device key for the remote you
are replacing (VCR, AUX, TV, or CBL).

If you select AUX in Step 2, or if you want one of the other device
buttons to control a device other than what the button's name
indicates, press SHIFT - VCRPRO - 2. Then press down arrow or up
arrow until the device you want to control with the button shows on
the right side of the display (TV, VCR, CBL, HOM, or MSC). Then press
    PLAY.

3. Press SHIFT-VCRPRO-1-(3-digit codes).

Example: For a Realistic TV, press SHIFT - VCRPRO-1-154.

4. Aim the Easy VCR Programmer at the device and press POWER (or any
other key that the device should respond to). The device should
    respond to the key press.

Repeat these steps for other devices.

If the Easy VCR Programmer does not operate the device, try other codes
listed in "Manufacturer's Codes" faxback doc. # 7972 for your brand of
remote controlled device.

If the remote still does not control the device, follow the steps outlined
in "Searching for the Code."

SEARCHING FOR THE CODE

If the Easy VCR Programming does not control your remote controlled device
when you first set it up, you probably have not entered the correct 3-
digit code for your device. You can try all the codes for your device's
brand, but because many manufacturers use several brand names, you might
want to search the remote's entire code library as follows:

1. Manually turn on the device.

2. Aim the Easy VCR Programmer at the device.

3. Press the device button (VCR, AUX, TV, or CBL) you are having problems
    using.

4. Press SHIFT - VCRPRO - 1.

5. Press POWER.

If your device does not turn off, press up arrow and repeat this step
    until your device responds.

6. When your device responds, press PLAY to lock in the correct code.

The Easy VCR Programmer displays the code. Write down this code so
you will have it handy if you ever need it again.
