VCR Programmer (150-1996) Operation Faxback Doc. # 63957 Programming an Event You can follow the numbered steps on the programmer, but you should familiarize your self with the instructions below before you program an event for the first time. Note: After programming your event, your VCR and cable converter (or satellite receiver) must be turned off for the programmer to record your program. To program an event, perform the following steps in sequence. Pausing longer than 30 seconds between steps exits programming. Note: If you accidentally press the wrong key in a sequence, INVALID appears. Simply press the correct key and the sequence continues uninterrupted. 1. Press UNLOCK once to access the record mode. The current day, time and the last programmed event appear. Note: If no event has ever been programmed, the default day and time (SUNDAY, 12:00 A.M.), RECORD LENGTH =30, and CHANNEL =0 appears. 2. Repeatedly press DAY to set the day of the week, or hold it down to scroll quickly. You can choose any day of the week, or choose M-F for a show that airs every weekday at the same time (a soap opera, for example). 3. Repeatedly press HOUR +/- to set the hour, or hold down either key to scroll. Note: Be sure the hour you select correlates to AM or PM. 4. Repeatedly press MINUTE +/- to set the minute, or hold down either key to scroll. 5. Repeatedly press RECORD LENGTH to select the length of the program you want to record (30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 minutes). Choose CR for continuous recording (the unit will record until the tape runs out). 6. Depending on which devices you set up, perform one of the following instructions: If you set up both your VCR and cable converter (or satellite receiver), repeatedly press CBL/SAT +/-, or hold it down to scroll through the channels. If you set up only your VCR, repeatedly press VCR +/-, or hold it down to scroll through the channels. 7. Press LOCK to save your settings. P appears. SUCCESS, EXIT SETUP, and the current day and time appear. The display turns off to conserve battery life. 8. Press LOCK again to activate the programmer for recording. The recording information you programmed appears. Note: To check programming status, press any key except CANCEL. The day, time, channel, record length of your programmed event, and P appear, indicating a programmed event. The display then turns off to conserve battery life. Disabling an Event Should you decide not to record an event, you can temporarily disable the event programming. For example, if you will be home to watch your favorite show, but next week, you will want to record it again. 1. Press CANCEL. The current day and time and P appear, to indicate your event is still programmed. The display then turns off to conserve battery life. 2. The next time you want to tape the show, press LOCK to enable the event. The day, time, channel, record length of your programmed event, and P appear, indicating an event has been programmed. The display then turns off to conserve battery life. Cancelling an Event Before you can program a new event, you must first cancel the previously programmed event. 1. Press UNLOCK. The day, time, record length and channel for the show you previously programmed, and P appear. 2. Press CANCEL. The current day and time appear and the display turns off to conserve battery life. 3. Press UNLOCK to program a new event. (EB 1/29/1)
