ITZA - Remote Control
(15-1912/13/14) Change Device Key Faxback Doc. # 35311

You can use the ITZA to control a second TV or a second VCR by changing the
device keys. You can change any of the device keys to operate another
device.

For example, to operate a second TV with the CBL key, follow these steps.

Operating a Second TV with the Cable Key

You can operate a second TV instead of a cable box by turning your CBL key
into a TV key. Turn on your second TV.

1. Find the code for your second TV in the "Set-Up Code" section on Faxback
    Doc. # 35314

2. Press (do not hold) MAGIC, 999, CBL, then TV.

3. Press and release CBL. Then press and hold down MAGIC until the ITZA's
operation indicator blinks a second time. While still pressing MAGIC,
    enter your 3-digit TV code.

4. Aim the ITZA at your second TV and press PWR. Your TV should turn off.

5. Write the code for your second TV in the boxes.

6. When you want to operate your second TV, press CBL, then press the
function buttons just like on your original remote.

Operating a Second VCR with the Cable Key

You can operate a second VCR using the CBL key. Turn on your VCR and put
in a tape.

1. Find the code for your second VCR in the "Set-Up Code" section on Fax-
    back Doc. # 35314.

2. Press and release MAGIC, 999, CBL, then VCR.

The ITZA operation indicator blinks a second time.

3. Press and release CBL. Then press and hold down MAGIC until the ITZA's
operation indicator blinks a second time. While still holding MAGIC,
    enter your 3-digit VCR code.

4. Aim the ITZA at your second VCR and press PWR. If your VCR does not
have a Power key, aim and press PLAY to confirm that the remote is set.

5. Write the code for your second VCR in the boxes.

6. When you want to operate your second VCR, press CBL, then press the
function buttons just like on your original remote.

Changing Any Device Key

We have shown you how to change two of the device keys. Actually, you can
change any of the device keys (TV, VCR, or CBL) to operate another device.
The chart below shows how to do this.

To Change Press

TV to VCR MAGIC...999...TV...VCR...TV...MAGIC* + VCR code.

TV to CBL MAGIC...999...TV...CBL...TV...MAGIC* + cable box code.

VCR to TV MAGIC...999...VCR...TV...VCR...MAGIC* + TV code.

VCR to CBL MAGIC...999...VCR...CBL...VCR...MAGIC* + cable box code.

CBL to TV MAGIC...999...CBL...TV...CBL...MAGIC* + TV code.

CBL to VCR MAGIC...999...CBL...VCR...CBL...MAGIC* + VCR code.

*NOTE: When you press MAGIC the second time, you must hold it down until
the operation indicator blinks. Then while still holding MAGIC,
enter your 3-digit code. Do not hold MAGIC down the first time you
        press it.

To change a device key back to its original function, press MAGIC...999...
then press the device key three times, hold MAGIC until the indicator
blinks, and enter the 3-digit device code.

Punch Through

You might be able to use some features of your TV, VCR, and cable box at
the same time. For example, if you are playing a movie on your VCR, you
can turn up the volume on the TV, because the volume is a TV function, not
a VCR function. the chart below lists some of the other possibilities:

Last Key Pressed You Can Control

TV VCR Play, Pause, Fast-Forward, Rewind, and Record

VCR TV Volume Up and Down and Mute

CBL TV Volume Up and down, Mute, VCR Play, Pause, Fast
                   Forward, Rewind and Record

Helpful Hints

If The operation indicator does not blink when you press a key, replace
the batteries with fresh AAA alkaline batteries.

If you can't get the ITZA to operate your device:

  1. Try all of the codes listed for the brand of your device in the
"Set-Up Code" section (on Faxback Doc. # 35314).

  2. Try the alternative set-up method (on Faxback Doc. # 35310). Follow
each step carefully. Make sure that you aim the ITZA at your device
      when you press PWR.

If your device does not correctly respond to some of the commands,
start the alternative set-up method again. Many devices use similar
remote control codes. While searching, you might have selected a code
for which only some commands work. Try each code until you find the
one that works completely for your device.
