How to Program your One For All® remote

( URC-5060, URC-5061, URC-5062, URC-5063, URC-5065 )


Set Up

After getting the proper codes from your manual or Customer Service, use the following instructions to enter them into your remote.

  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER the 3 digit code for your brand.
  4. You should receive 2 quick flashes after entering your code.
  5. PRESS the POWER button to test the code. (On VCR,LD,and CD players use PLAY)

Searching For Yor Code

If you have tried all of the set-up codes for your brand of eqipment, or your brand is not listed, and you are still not able to get the unit to respond, try the following proceedure to search for your code.
  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.) button until your device turns off.(On VCR,LD,and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
    Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.

Blinking Back the Code:

  1. PRESS the device,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 0.
  4. PRESS 1, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (1st digit)
  5. PRESS 2, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (2nd digit)
  6. PRESS 3, carefully COUNT the number of blinks. (3rd digit)
If the remote DOES NOT blink it means the number is 0.
This is your 3-digit setup code.

Redefining a Key

  1. PRESS the device,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 2.
  4. PRESS the DEVICE,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.),key you want moved
  5. PRESS the DEVICE key you want to replace.
Example: If you want the Aux key to be a TV key:
"SETUP" (2 blinks) 9 - 9 - 2, TV (you want to move TV)
Then AUX (you want to replace AUX).

Punch Through

This sets Volume to work for one device in all modes.
For example, the TV volume will work in the cable and VCR modes.
  1. PRESS the device,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 3.
  4. PRESS the device key you would like the volume to come from.
You will get two blinks on the remote.
NOTE: This only sets volume in the TV,VCR,CABLE, or SAT mode.
If you want to set the volume for a device to work just one or two other devices- refer to the instructions under "KEYMOVER-From one button to another"

Volume Default

Use this to get the original volume to work on each device.
  1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS 9 - 9 - 3
  3. PRESS the VOLUME+ key, you will get two blinks.
Now The volume is set for all original devices.

Clearing Out

A Device Key

  1. PRESS the device,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 2
  4. PRESS the device button twice. - Two blinks.

Any Button On The Remote

  1. PRESS the button you want to clear - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 4
  4. PRESS the button you want to clear twice. - Two blinks.

All Key movers,Macro's, and Defaults

  1. PRESS the device,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 8 - 0 -- Two blinks.

Scrambled Keypad

Sometimes it seems that the keypad is "scrambled". Functions like channels, volume, or numbers are not where they should be.
If your remote seems to be acting this way, try the following proceedure:
  1. PRESS the device,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-6-9 (two blinks)
  4. Try the functions on the remote
If the keypad continues to act "scrambled", you may:
  • Be on the wrong code for your device.
    A wrong code may only operate a few functions of your equipment or they may be operating inaccurately.
  • Have something more serious wrong with the remote.

Key Mover

An Advanced Function To A Button

  1. PRESS the device,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 4.
  4. PRESS the "SETUP" button and then the three digit extended function.
  5. PRESS the button you wish to use for that function - Two Blinks.

From One Button to Another

  1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS 9 - 9 - 4.
  3. PRESS the DEVICE and the FROM button
  4. PRESS the DEVICE and the TO button
  5. Two Blinks
EXAMPLE: To take the volume from a TV and put it in the VCR mode,
it would be: SETUP - 9 - 9 - 4 -TV - VOL UP - VCR- VOL UP - two blinks.
You would have to do the same process for VOL DN and MUTE.

"Shifted" Key Mover

In order to stack a second function on a key; when pressing the button you want the function on in the sequence, instead hit SETUP and then the button you want.
To use the function: TAP the SETUP button and release, then TAP the key you chose.
FOR EXAMPLE:VCR-SETUP(hold 2 blinks) 9-9-4 SETUP 2-3-4 SETUP PLAY
If you hit the PLAY button - the VCR will PLAY, if you hit SETUP -PLAY it will bring up a display.

Favorite Channel Keys

Your One For All® 4 Device is equipped with a favorite channel key ( FAV CH ). You can set up the FAV CH key with a list of up to 10 of your favorite channels on either your TV or your Cable Box/Satellite/DSS.
NOTE: The FAV CH key can only be set up for one device (TV,CABLE, SAT) at a time. You cannot set up a favorite channel on another device key until you have cleared the FAV CH of your original list.
  1. PRESS the device key, (TV, VCR, or CBL/SAT), for the device that will contain your favorite channel list.
  2. PRESS and HOLD SETUP until the remote blinks twice. Release SETUP and press 9-9-6.
  3. ENTER the channel number of the channel would like to add to your favorite channel list. Then PRESS SETUP .
    • If you are entering a single digit number, you must PRESS 0 first.
    • If you are entering a three digit number you do not have to PRESS SETUP after you have entered the channel number.
    • If your original remote control required you to use an ENTER key to change channels, press ENTER instead of SETUP after entering your channel number.
  4. Continue adding your favorite channels up to 10 channels. Once you have finished, press and hold SETUP until the remote's red light blinks twice.
  5. To scan through your favorite channel list, PRESS FAV CH . Your One For All® 4 Device will automatically scan through your favorite channel list, stopping on each channel for three (3) seconds.
  6. To stop at one your favorite channels, PRESS any key on the One For All® remote.

To clear an entire favorite channels list from the FAV CH key.

  1. PRESS and HOLD SETUP until the remote's red light blinks twice, then RELEASE SETUP .
  2. PRESS 9-9-6 then PRESS and HOLD SETUP until the remote's red light blinks twice.

Macro-Sequence

This will allow you do do several functions with just the touch of ONE key.
  1. PRESS the device,(TV,VCR,CABLE,etc.), button - RELEASE
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS 9 - 9 - 5
  4. PRESS the key you want the Macro to be on
  5. PRESS the sequence of keys you want the remote to do
  6. PRESS "SETUP" and wait for two blinks - RELEASE.
When you hit the key you put the macro on it will automatically start the sequence.
IMPORTANT:The Macro key will be the macro in ALL MODES so it is best to pick a key you will not need for anything else in any other mode.

Using the Sleep Key

The sleep key allows you to access the sleep timer of your TV or Cable Box. Even if your original TV or Cable Box remote control did not have a sleep timer, your One For ALL® 5 device has its own built in sleep timer. If your TV or CABLE box has a sleep timer, press the SLEEP key to activate the sleep timer. To activate the One For All® 5 Device's built-in sleep timer:

  1. PRESS the desired device key (TV, or CABLE), then PRESS the SLEEP key once to set the built in sleep timer for 15 minutes.
  2. Each additional PRESS of the SLEEP key will add 15 more minutes to the sleep timer, up to a maximum of 60 minutes.
    NOTE: Once you have activated the One For All® 5 Device's built-in sleep timer, you must keep the remote pointed directly at the component.
  3. To deactivate the built-in sleep timer, PRESS any key other than SLEEP.

Using the Finder with your One For All® 5 Device

If you purchased the One For All® 5 Device with finder (URC-5061/5062/5063), your remote comes with a separate Finder Transmitter used to find your remote control should it get lost or misplaced in your home. The transmitter also comes with a velcro strip to attach it to a base item such as your TV or VCR. Follow these simple directions to use your 'Finder":
  1. Your Finder Transmitter requires one 9 volt battery.
  2. To find the One For All® 5 device remote (URC-5061/5062/5063 only), PRESS the button on the Finder Transmitter. The red arrow will light up, indicating that the transmitter is sending a signal. Your One For All® 5 Device will then start beeping indicating that your remote control has been located. The beeping tone will last approximately 5 seconds.
  3. To hear the beeping tone again, just PRESS the Finder Transmitter's button and the beeping tone will resume for 5 more seconds.
