after opening the file in rm you can just change the drop down to select your remote. You may then need to adjust some key assignments but it should work then.

to be more specific since your post isn't quite clear what you're trying to do.

rm is a tool for making upgrades, IR is the tool for loading the stuff on the remote. If you want to take an RM file and change the remote, Evan's repsonse is correct. open the old file in RM, change the remote, fix up the buttons that aren't exactly the same and then save it as a new upgrade.

If what you're trying to do is take an IR file from one remote and load it into another, no can do. You cannot load the IR file from one remote to another, lots of bad things will happen since the remote may or may not understand everything that is in the file. I can assure you that changing from an 881x to an Atlas will be way off.

So upgrades in an IR file must be recreated in either KM or RM and then reloaded into IR to upload to the remote.

One final note, that Atlas remotes are a bit odd in that they often don't like you going into IR and doing a "new -> URC-1056 OCAP" since there is some special data in the private area and in the setup that I'm not sure is all that well understood.

The best way to create an Atlas configuration is to take the "virgin" remote, read it (and save it) and then add your new devices, keymoves, macros, etc to that configuration. That way, all of the special data is left where it belongs and IR only changes the stuff that you want to change.

The problem i am having is that it is actually a KeyMapMaster device upgrade for the Sony STR-DE805G Receiver I am trying to load in RM. I get this message when i open my device upgrade "The upgrade file you are loading is for the URC-881x/801x/601x There is no remote with that exact name. Please choose the best match from the list below" Problem is that my remote is not on this list. I have installed the images and RDF in their correct locations. I am lost.

You need to pick one of the available remote choices from the drop-down list (it probably doesn't matter which) just to get RM to OPEN the upgrade file. That is not the pont at which you are "tailoring" the upgrade for YOUR remote yet. At this point you are just trying to get the original upgrade opened AS IT IS.

Afterwards, you can change the remote on the Setup page.
