I have been chasing this problem for a while now with no success. I have a purchased an JP1.3 interface that works fine on at least 10 atlas 11055BA1-219-0377-0004 remotes. I have been trying to use my Dell Latitude D610 serial port. I use this comport for many other applications with no problems. My jp 1.x interface works fine on my old PIII 800. I have clipped pin 5 on the JP1.3 connector. When I run the jp1xtest routine it indicates no interface is connected. I have used the simple interface to program over 60 JP1 remotes. I am running out of them and need to move onto the new atlas units.
Thanks
Harry
JP1.3 works on desktop but not on laptop

it won't work on the Latitude (nor my old Inspiron).

This thread http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9248 seems to have a similar issue but he was able to get jp1xtest to work though. Eventually he used a 9v battery.

I was never able to make this work from My Dell Latitude D400, same cables, same remotes, etc. I was able to make it work on my Dell Latitude L400 when it was in the docking station.
Your best bet is to get one of Tommy's new USB interfaces and be done with the serial cables.
