Yessir, that's my problem now. What can we do when no definition file for a remote exists? What if I just wanted to download and save the data, so that I could upload the data to another, similar remote?

That actually is all that I want to do to begin with, so that I can return this one that is not always working properly and get a replacement.

The next step however would be to do some fancy programming of the unit as well.

Hope somebody can clear this up for me.

Are you talking about RDF files? Have you tried these files:

RDF

With or without an rdf, however, you can do a raw download and subsequent upload of the same data and it should work properly.

Thanks a lot, downloaded the RDF and it works great. Now I just have to find out how to move data up to and down from RM... And also find out how to put a macro into a device select key. I am going to study all the documentation that I have one more time, I guess it is all there; I just have to find (and understand it Smile)

Yes the documentation is all there. There is a huge learning curve, but I will say that of all the programs I wrote in my lifetime, none has given me as much pleasure as my customized remote control.

Just wanted to say hi to a fellow foxbase-VFP person.

Howdy partner - I just love VFP I have done some fancy things like linking to assembler programs I have written, automatic uploading of data to web pages et cetera, seems there ain't anything you can't do with it. But from using Universal Thread to get a little help sometimes I have learned that it really is a programming tool for people far above and ahead of me with respect to programming!

I also wrote a couple of programs to gather data from blood analysis machines too, they were fun to write but as usual, the profits nowhere near a decent pay if it should be done for a living...
