The sites listed indicate "out of stock" for JP1.x USB cables. Is there a place where you can actually buy them? Thanks. |

That one looks real cool!
Unfortunately, I have already bought the TTL-232R-3V3-WE device from UK. I have got it working, but I wish I hadn't had to use mailorder just to get a couple of 6-pin headers, then to post a couple of times to http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9186&start=15
to find out how to connect the wires, and then to fumble with soldering them.
But allright, it seems to work so I guess I should be happy. |

Good to see you got it working. They do sell a version with a 6 pin header but all the pins are in a row. Sometimes these headers have a small retaining clip on it that you can push on and release the internal metal head. You can then try to slip that metal head into the pins on the remote. I couldn't tell from the picture if this was possible so I suggested the Wire Ended(WE) version. |

But perhaps the unit that I've got is the best solution anyway? I am hoping it also may be used to handle the Force Sat tuner remote. As far as know that is a JP1 type. Is rewiring to obtain that possible?

I've built the simple JP1 cable, but after reading another thread about the Dreambox remote I really am confused. The instructions I used had pins 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the header connected, with pins 5 and 6 strapped together.
But in the Deambox thread the wiring is turned 180 degrees, with strapping between pins 1 and 2.
So which way should the header be plugged onto the remote? I will not try the other way before this has been verified. |

Pins 1/2 should be strapped. Around the jack a corner should be clipped on the silkscreen, indicating pin 1. |
